Maybe, but you won't be able to hit the momentus nearly as far

Very little, it is more for strength. Try to start with 80 % of your weight on the right side and take a half swing to get the timing down and to force yourself to shift your weight. When you consistantly clip the grass doing this try a normal full swing and see if that helps.

I just picked one up last week and have not had the oportunity to use it yet. While I am normally not a training aid buyer, I bought this based on the heavy club theory from Harvey Penick. After I saw the infomercial about a hundred times on the Golf Channel, I was re-reading one of the Penick books and came across the heavy club theory. I figured it can't hurt my swing and I do not like the idea of the weighted doughnut on my clubs so I pulled the trigger. Best deal I found was on the infomercial or via the web at www.momentusgolf.com/tv (same deal). If you do not add the/tv the price goes up.

Once I get a chance to use it a bit (relatives in town this week), I will report back my thoughts on how well it works.

I keep mine around the house just pick it up a few times and swing it, IT is a nice aid but not jebus. It does build strength.

Just an update.

Started swinging the Momentus the other day about 25-30 times a day. Today, I brought it with me to the range and warmed up with it after I stretched out and before I started hitting balls. I would hit about 10 balls then swing the Momentus 5 times and go back to hitting balls. While no miracles occured, I was hitting my shots very well considering I had not hit a ball in a week and half. The first few swings after swinging the Momentus felt great. The clubs felt really light and I was hitting the ball about 5 yard further with my 8 iron carrying it out to the 150 yard flag.

Again, no miracles, but it did help me keep my swing plane more consistant from shot to shot and I was hitting the ball solid for most of the range session. I will keep at it and update you after my next round.

Just an update.

The Momentus works as advertised. Like OBagain said, no miracles, but when I used it on my last round, my iron play was a lot more consistant that it was prior to using the momentus. My swing plane was consistant and I had a lot of confidence standing over the ball with an iron in my hand. My driving was about as good as it gets for me. Fairly accurate (more fairways than normal) and some added distance. I can not not totally attribute the distance to Momentus though as I just recently changed golf balls as well. I started playing Stratas and was getting about 10 to 15 more yards on my shots than I was playing with the Infinities. The extra distance actually screwed up my game for the first several holes as I was flying the green and ending up in trouble over the green. Once I got a handle on my improved iron distance, my scoring improved.

Unfortunately, I have not been swinging the Momentus lately as it is still sitting im my car and out of sight out of mind and it showed on my last range session. Once I get it back where I will see it every day, I'll will get back into the routine again. For me it has worked thus far and I would recommend it. I will update if that changes.

Nice review. It will be interesting to see if it helps more after you start using it again.

I hope so, I really missed that feeling I had when I was using it frequently. Only one range session and one round in the last few weeks has not helped either.

Just and update:

Used the Momentus on the range the other day after not hitting a ball for 3 weeks, and I am really starting to believe in some of the claims from the infomercials. Warming up with the Momentus and taking a few swings with it in between club changes reallys helps me with my swing plane, and my distance has improved by a club length. I do not profess to know how it works, but for whatever reason it does for me.

The next day, I finally got out on the course again and was hitting the ball amazing well for such a long layoff. I shot a 91 which was primarily due to some rust on my short game. I hit my irons well all day, and was hitting my driver amazing farther than ever before. On a 270 yard par 4, I drove the green and the ball ended up in the bunker behind the green. Farthest drive that I have ever been able to accurately measure.

As long as it continues to help my game, I will continue to use it.

You can make your own Momentus for about $2.

1. Get an old club. Doesn't matter if it is a 5 iron or an old wood.
2. Using a razor, slice the butt end of the grip across twice so that there are four quadrants. You should be able to slip a funnel into the butt of the grip.
3. Using a funnel, pour BB's you would use in any regular airgun into the shaft until you can fit no more.
4. If needed, stuff the butt of the club with some cloth to make a tight seal
5. Glue the cuts you made back together so nothing comes out

Presto, you have a weighted club, and you don't have to spend $90!!

Still using the Momentus on the range, and its definitely a keeper. Whenever I start hitting the ball off line, I stop and swing the momentus a few times and the problem is solved. It has helped my grip, swing plane and distance. This is a quality training aid and worth the price.

Lots of rain today, I spotted a momentus at Dick's Sporting Goods and pulled the trigger on buying it. Watched the DVD, then took some swings outside in the dampness, then swung a 5I after that to feel the differences.

So I can't say what effect it may have on the course or my shots yet, but I liked the way it made the 5I feel light like a whip. I'm hoping the rain will back off enough that tomorrow I can play a round.
