My course...

...the best 9 holer in WI, closed today!!!??? It is 70*, an absolutely beautiful day. Generally they close during the middle or end of November.

I walked up to the clubhouse and saw the sign. I called another course - "We closed yesterday, sorry." Called one more - closed. WTF????

I now have to drive 1/2 hour to get to the nearest range. I'm going to go insane.

The best possible thing you can do at this point is to send me your clubs, especially the 425TP

Golf season is never definitively over here, which is nice.

Your courses probably just have set dates that they must adhere to, for some reason or another. How cold is it getting there at night?

tonight will be 48*

tomorrow will be 50*

And, yes, they apparently had planned to close today way ahead of time. Lost a lot of business today I bet.

They probably did, especially since that isn't even close to freezing.

WTF?

All I can say is pack your bags and move south. I played 18 today here in Mississippi in slacks and a polo. Actually got hot and broke a sweat on the back 9,

One of the guys I was playing with actually ducked into the woods and came back out wearing shorts. BTW, the high today was 78º.

Same here in Colorado, shorts and polo weather. Next couple of days are supposed to be chilly, but then it warms up again. My course never closes, it's just not open for golf when there is snow cover. When the snow melts off, the game is on again.

Same here. As long as there is no snow on the ground and the greens aren't frozen the courses will be open.

Although most of the fairways here are zoysia and it's about halfway dormant already. It's kind of odd playing on yellow fairways during the late fall to early spring months. Reminds me of playing off some really ugly carpet.

Jake, is it possible to just go play anyways?
You won't have any pins to aim for but so what?

I most likely will after they close the clubhouse. It's still open for food right now but should close soon.

I played like that a bit last year. Hit the green and add two putts. If you miss the green, alternate adding one putt and two putts.

Alternating is pretty generous, Mike. You get up and down half the time? Good work

You could just assume that all the pins are at the center of the green. Put a tee in the ground in the middle when you get to the green and putt it out.

I'm fortunate in that my home course closes according to the weather. Once the ground freezes they move the tees and pins to temp positions but they will stay open until the ground is covered with snow. I usually quit for the winter when they move the pins to temporary greens.

That sucks man. Cripes, it's colder here and courses are all open. Triggs never closes unless the greens are frozen or it snows. I showed up at 1pm today and although there were 25-30 cars in the parking lot, most of them must have headed out earlier. I had another single comfortably behind me but he disappeaed, think he was hitting practice shots. I met up with my friend on the 11th hole. I played my original ball out but hit a lot practice chips, pitches and putts. I love playing this time of year. Soon they will go to temp tees though. It's still good golf but shortens the course up to around 6K yards.
