Why am I driving like I've never played golf before?

I'm playing the most consistent golf I ever have. Three days in a row at the range, a total 312 balls. I doubt I hit 14 bad shots.

My iron play is straight to a slight fade, nothing unplayable. My 3 and 5 wood are performing amazingly. I've never been able to take a 3 wood off the ground, in fact, I'd never used it in actual play. Now I'm taking it 240 off of the ground!

My chipping is above average in my book, and I've been putting tremendously.

So...

WHY CAN'T I DRIVE THE BALL?!

I used to punch it straight 260+, then I was fading it (unintentionally) about 240, but it landed in the center and it was consistent. Now it seems like I'm slicing uncontrollably. I've tried a more pronounced weight shift, standing totally still, closing the face, opening the face, I just can't get the ball to go straight!

I'm gonna use my 3 wood off the tee, and be miserable.

You are probably swaying causing you to pick the club up to complete your turn. Make sure you are not shifting too much and you should see some results.

It seems like I'm hitting my 3 wood as far as I hit my driver on my better days now.

I'll try to keep my right knee exactly where it is to prevent any swaying on the backswing, but I'll be much more critical tomorrow and verbally acknowledge to myself everything I'm doing.

back it up about an inch to an inch and a half and if right handed take front feet and turn it in about the same amount u will hit it straight as an arrow but by backing it up will hit it a little lower and probably around 250 if u hit it 260 before depends on the fairways. post back and let me know if this works i sponsor and caddie for two mini tour players so i know a lot of quick fixes in u know what i mean lol have a good one.

If you are hitting the 3W well, leave the driver in the car. Hard to say why you are not hitting the driver well without seeing your setup and swing, but work it out on the range before you hit another driver on the course. 240 Yards in the fairway with the 3 wood should not hurt your game too much and may even improve it.

Best piece of advise I never followed: "If you hit it bad one day, shrug it off as an off day. If you hit it bad two rounds in row, hit the range. If you hit it bad 3 rounds in a row, go see a pro." Seeing as I have never visited a golf pro for lessons/instruction myself, I find it hard to reccomend as I would be hypocritical, but it may help find your flaw. It may also explain why my handicap fluctuates between 14 and 19.

You know, I experienced this a couple months ago, the best advice I got, which solved my issue by the way, was to keep my swing long and flowing, and swing slow, (do this at the range) when you get the results you want at half speed, go to 3/4, then to full speed. There is alot to be said for keeping good form and tempo......
