Just some stuff happening recently

Been pretty busy recently, so golf is not getting it’s regualr fix.

Some recent highlights:

Stayed at the Belfry in Birmingham for a week and didn’t play golf. I was at a show and to be honest I would have found it difficult to get the time. I did pay a few night-time visits to their range though. Got a few photos of me outside the European and US team rooms which was cool, the hotel was also awash with golf memorabilia, especially Ryder Cup glories. There’s some history on those walls. And I hear they are planning to tear the place down next year to build a 500 bedroom hotel. The shame of it! It’s a little corny the whole set-up though, I say in Torrance House!! Good view of the 1st tee on the PGA Centenary Course.

On a related note The Belfry rental clubs suck. I got a Mizuno MP-57, but the only one they had was a 3 degrees upright 6 iron and proceeded to shank 2/3 of my shots one evening. I did make out better with a Nike SQ Sumo 5000 with a Diamina shaft, actually quite like that club. But £3 per club

Discovered that my 52 degree wedge was 4 degrees too upright. Not sure what happened there. It used to be my favourite club, then last couple of times I was out it just felt alien in my hands. It was 59 degrees upright!!!. It was leading to a few shanks, so I took it to my club guy and he was able to spot the problem (wear marks on the heel of the sole) and bend fairly quickly. Here’s hoping it now delivers.

The Wilson TPA XVIII continues to deliver along with my new putting stroke. The sweet spot on that thing is massive compared to the SC. MASSIVE!!

I get my Tour Edge Exotics blades next week. Can’t wait.

Doing some work right now with PowaKaddy, who manufacture electric carts. They are evaluating my company’s lithium batteries. In fact they sent me a prototype FreewayII to evaluate. Very cool. The battery is about 25% weight of a standard lead acid and has a 6 year warranty!!

Doctors say that you should eat 5 pieces of fruit or veg a day to remain healthy. Last week I ate 5 mouldy plums and that night I shat the bed. What's healthy about that?
