Ruining the game I love......

Hi all!
I've been playing golf for about six months now and love it! But in the last month getting out on the course has been hard. Whenever I play a round my left knee is constantly sore and I keep having to wait a while before I have enough confidence to go back out there.Frustration!!!! If anyone could please help in giving specific details on what I should be doing with my lower body during my swing(weight transfer etc.) it would mean a lot.
Thanks.

if you're injured, you need to get treatment and let it heal. simple.

Go see a doc and fix the problem. Trying to swing around an injury is a bad idea.

Ibuprofen! And lots of it. At least that way you'll still be able to play.

There's always pool & lawn darts if your body can't handle golf.

1st,

Get yourself a good Tru-Fit knee brace. It works wonders.

2nd,

Most often, as you can guess, a tore up left knee from golf is the sign of a swing flaw. I was letting my left knee get outside my left foot, then snapping back to the straight leg position.

The proper movement is to just let the knee/leg snap straight up to the straight leg position. This is EASILY doable with a wider stance. Most everyone will benefit from a wider stance as it is one of the basic fundamentals of golf. But if you look up and down the line at the driving range, most all player's stances will be too narrow.

You want to just "turn into" the left leg. Twisting the leg and letting the knee get outside your left foot puts too much torque on the left knee.

Your left foot should be outside your left shoulder for all shots. You will need a mirror to check. Or a friend that knows what to look for. The left heel needs to be outside the edge of your left shoulder on a line straight down.

It is funky at first, but it is correct. And it will preserve your knee.

But, for the most part, the simple fix is to get a knee brace. Most likely you won't have to change your swing or anything. It will just hold the knee sturdier.
