Managed to get 9 in today

Left work an hr early to take advantage of the mid 40º's & some decent sunshine. Played 9 holes at Bridges & for the 1st 4 holes I was nailing my driver perfectly, then the last 5 holes it fell apart a bit & I started slicing a bit. Nothing too horrible as I was able to save GIR numerous times. 3033 yds with a 122 slope par of 36, managed to scrape a 40 out of it due to numerous short chips which landed near the pin allowing for 1 putts.

Yo Wi-Goler, Going to goout golfing tommorrow or going to scalp some Badger ootball tickets. Have not decided yet. Was Bridges busy?

A little cool today but I also got in 13 holes. Wanted to finish but someone let the dark in. Also went to see a movie (See golf not for you). Was 4 under. A mess of pars, an eagle and 2 birds. Wouldn't your know my game finally comes around when the end is nigh.

It was 1:00 & there was maybe a dozen people total out on the course. Guy in the pro shop said they might not open the course today, but then he was basing that on last nights weather forecast which was calling for some snow & then today was supposed to be windy. He said cold is fine & so is wind, but when you combine the 2, nobody shows up.

I asked him how long they will remain open & he said so long as the snow holds off & the weather remains basically like what the forecast calls for next week, upper 30's & sunny, then they are open.

I felt fine walking yesterday, wore a hoodie & a regular baseball style hat. Afterwards though on the drive home I could feel my ears warming up, they had definitely gotten pretty cold. next time I wear a little bit warmer hat.

BTW, I played the front 9 which was soggy from all the rain this week & the greens have been aerated but they weren't too bad. Was told the back 9 is in pretty good shape except for #11 which they are redoing & have shortened it up for now. Raising the fairway which will stop the ungodly flooding they had this year.

Headed out to Vitense in a bit to play the crummy par 3. It's open until there is snow on the ground. 37º right now, not too bad considering it's the middle of November.

$6 to play the par 3. Managed a 30 on a par 27 course, hit a fair number of greens except the 1st 2 holes really threw me for a loop. Was at least 10 yds short on both when I remembered what was posted this morning about irons being at least 10 yds shorter during cold weather play. I over clubbed the rest of the rd & was fine. Felt kinda weird using an 8 iron on a 128 yd hole, normally I would use a 9 iron & not put a full swing into it as that's my 130 club. The 8 worked beautifully though & set it down about 4' from the hole.

Hmm, another question just hit me, going to add it to my cold weather golf thread.

All the Dells area courses shut down, but that's more a fact they are tourist driven & obviously the winter is very slow. Not enough locals to make it worthwhile to stay open.

In Madison my local course is still open, as well as Vitense, The Oaks, & Bridges. I don't know of any others in the area that remain open.

There is one near Fon Du lac, Camelot which supposedly never closes. They have a pic on their website of someone golfing in the snow. I am going to go there at least once this winter. Maybe I can talk Zaph, WBL & Sssmokin into joining me that day? Winter time Shottalk outing!!!

Wi-Golfer---My home course is open year around too. Moundview Country Club. They have a box for $5 donations for all day. Flags are pulled but all the cups are near the middle of the greens so this is not a problem. I went out last Friday, Saturday we scalped tickets for Badger-Golpher football game ($30 at the 30 yards line 50 rows up--perect), then today Sunday went out for another 9.

Give a shout if you want.
