Thread: Obituary - John Bretz (Bravo) RIP – “Assclench forever”

  1. #16
    Rest in Peace John.
Like others even though I never met him, it's still a huge shock when this happens. Have been thru this sort of ordeal several times now & it never gets any easier.

For anyone interested, I found Johns obit notice.

I read through this thread again and through John's old fables and expect him to come out of the woodwork and add his two bits worth of wisdom as he always did.

This is a strange world that we live in, gents. I ate little for dinner tonight. Even the wife was a bit taken aback by this, as she had often heard stories of his life from time to time.

I remember talking with John about music. This was early on in my Shottalk life, and John was one of the first people to get to know me here. Out of the blue, he invited me to send him a hard drive to fill up with his favorite music (come and sue me, ASCAP!) and then he took the time to copy a bunch of his collected music onto that drive for me. That speaks volumes about the man.

I really really wish I could have met him, and thanked him in person. I will think of John whenever I play a song from that drive - be it a happy song or a sad song.

    See you around, Bravo...

John was a great guy, I really enjoyed reading all his posts and obviously he is part to thank for what we have here. This is definitely more than just a golf forum as shown here by all the response for John and thank you very much Catherine for your bravery in this time and coming here and telling us.

John you will be missed, I'll have a drink as well for you.

T- That ball marked with the "B" on the side? That's how John marked his titleist?

    RIP John.

Bravo will be dearly missed by us all, myself included. At dinner last night I told my wife about this as I drank a cold Dos Equiis. Although she'd not heard much about him, she understands about Shot Talk after meeting Eracer and understood that this was bothering me, and why.

I've said "If only..." more than once since yesterday.

But you know what? If he were here, he'd tell every one of us to pull up our panties, get off the computer and go play some golf. So I say, in his honor, every one here does something today you enjoy. Golf if you can, spend time with loved ones, whatever you do that makes you forget about lifes worries for a while...just go do it.

Bravo will be here at Shot Talk always!

This sat heavy on my heart all day yesterday and my wife had a similar reaction when I told her.

I started thinking back and Bravo was really the main reason I came over to Shottalk in the beginning. I was a somewhat infrequent poster over on GR and he seem to always engage in conversations with me. It seemed only natural to come over to ST when the split occured.

He's also the person that turned me on to Sonartec. As someone said earlier, he loved that damn three wood! I toasted him last night and, in honor of him, the SS02 is going back into the bag for a while.

    RIP John.

I have no clue. Just my way of saying "adieu" to John.

Knowing John, he probably marked it with the initials of his kids. That's just who he was.

  15. I kept looking at this thread over and over in the hopes that John would make an appearance, and this would be just another of Spanks disgusting pranks. As the days pass however it is obvious this isnt the case, no matter how much I wish it was. Looking back at some of Johns last posts you could almost feel his desperation, you could read the sadness in his words. I cant help but wonder what could have been. My heart goes out to his family, and those closest to him. I never met John, but know how bad he must have felt things were to take the path he chose. I can only imagine what was going through his head in the final hours. This simply breaks my heart. We will miss you greatly John, and I hope you find the peace you seek.

My sincerest condolences to John's family.

    RIP John.
