And Bravo was one of them. He loved the sport and he loved this place - his knowledge, desire to learn and enthusiasm were second to none and I am deeply shocked by this news. I remember the spoof interview with great joy and I remember the trip to Ireland that never came off for him with great disappointment - if ever someone deserved to have the chance to make a trip like that, it was him.

He contacted me about a possible trip to Singapore about 18 months ago - we swapped a few emails then they dropped off...sadly I don't know if he ever made it out here and I regret that we never met.

He was one of the good guys. R.I.P. Bravo.

I must that Dave Ireland for making an extensive effort to contact me, I just wish the circumstances were different. Cheers Big Fella...
No thanks needed our lad, while members here will come and go, there's certain people you'll always have an affection for - Bravo and yerself fall into that category .. and my!! how I trawled the net to find ya Take care

Easy, just look at the Rich Lists in the Far East! KA is right up there. Takes him all day to count his gold, hence no posting here or no golf. Then he'll retire at 40, buy a golf course and start posting here!
Doctors say that you should eat 5 pieces of fruit or veg a day to remain healthy. Last week I ate 5 mouldy plums and that night I shat the bed. What's healthy about that?:shocked::shocked:

  7. I haven't been around for a while ... so I just got wind of this only moments ago.

I am so sorry to hear about Bravo!

My prayers and condolences to the family.

  8. Alabama Football

Boy I don't know if any of you talked to Bravo about Alabama football, but he was one of the most avid fans I know. Almost as obsessed with U of A as he was with Golf. Wouldn't he be going crazy knowing they are number one in the nation, and going to the SEC championship? Roll Tide and RIP Dad

Thanks for writing the great memories and wishes

    Catherine

  9. So sad but what a lovely testament to the man this thread is.

My deepest sympathies to Bravo's family and all those here for whom he was a friend.

    Catherine,

Good on you for bringing up these memories about your Pops. We used to give him a hard time about his love for the Tide, but it was all in good fun.

I hope you and the family are getting on. Give you best to your mom and sister, and the rest of the clan from all of us.

  11. Hi all

Catherine very kindly forwarded on a photo of John, which I put at the start along with John's avatar. A nice image of a nice man!

  13. I've read this thread about 3 times, and never really knew what to say. For several years I've enjoyed "chatting" with him several times over the years, but never met him in the real world or shared a laugh. I'm the poorer.

I want to tee it up with you guys so I don't have any more of those regrets.
It must be awful to have to work for a living.

  15. I haven't been on the board in a while, so I just saw this.

I am so sorry to hear this. Living in Montgomery, John (Bravo) and I spoke about playing together sometime, but we never managed to work it out. I knew I didn't see many posts from him the past year or so, but I had hoped we might still hook up down the road.

My parents live in Vestavia (just outside Birmingham) and were once members of John's home course, Vestavia Country Club, so I always enjoyed reading his posts about the course since I could identify with it.

You will be missed, John, even by those who never had the opportunity to meet you face-to-face.
