So I sold my TEE 3w on sunday on ebay. SHipped it out monday thinking all was good. Got home from work yesterday to find a message from UPS. "Your item was damaged in transit....so sorry for damaging your item" yada yada, the item is on its way back to you. Well today I got my TEE back in 2 pieces, arghhh. The message that UPS left said that I was approved for a claim and left a claim # and they were sending me the claim paperwork- I always insure shipments I sell on ebay. From what I hav heard though its pretty tough to get UPS to pay a claim, I guess they always claim that the packaging was "insufficient." If you look close you can see that the box was sheared nearly in half and was taped back together...it will be interesting to see if they try to claim that and I wonder what packing would have been sufficient to withstand whatever they did to it...LOL just have to laugh...here is a pic!!!

I insured it for what the winning bidder paid for it on ebay. Oh well, at least it was the garbage stock shaft-the head should be salvageable-I hope!

Yeah, if you've ever seen the sorting belts at UPS it's pretty scary. It's also obvious they read the box warnings very carefully too. :rolleyes:

It looks like the classic "box got turned sideways, one half tried to go right and the other left with a buch of heavy boxes stacked up behind it going Mach3" routine. I feel for ya man, UPS is a total crapshoot when shipping anything besides a square-ish box.

Yeah, I think I may switch back to strictly USPS from now on. Can be a litte more costly but...could be worth it.

Always put a piece of PVC piping around the shaft. If they can break THAT in half, they really have no way to claim insufficient packaging.

And they most likely won't break the PVC.

Same here. Unless I had a very high volume business and needed like 200 packages a day picked up, no way would I consider UPS. A) they suck B) they cost more money C) they take 2-3 times as long to deliver something. Pay more, get less, that's UPS.

Good luck with it Jim. I had them break a shaft on a BurnerTP from Globalgolf. Global let me keep the head and refunded me like $80 for another shaft. That was sweet.

Yeah, i am not holding my breath on getting paid for the claim. A guy I work with has a sister that works for UPS and she basically said, "file the claim, they will deny it." LOL-amazing isn't it...OH well I just edited all my active listings on ebay from UPS to USPS...:killersmiley:

I ship a good amount of products daily with UPS and they always deny the claim the first time and hope you just go away. I push the matter further and always get paid. Don't let them get away with it. Contact your local UPS rep and they will help you more than the corporate office.

How do I find out who my local rep is? I don't ship a ton of stuff, just what I sell on ebay.
