Playing for the first time in three weeks!

Two weeks ago, I played in a charity scramble and had not played a regular round for about ten days prior. I am looking forward to playing 1-2x in the next 4-5 days...

Getting our Fall weather now with beautiful days in the low 80's...

We are entering the Prime Season right now....

I can not wait for fall either, building up a sweat on the putting green is no fun.

Ya gotta hate it when life gets in the way of the golf game as I, too, have not been on the course the past 2 weeks. I am hoping to get a round in sometime next week or the week after.

Enjoy the rounds, Bravo.

It's been about the same length of time for me. I've been trying to give my back a break but thought I would play today until I saw it's going to be another record high.

Today will be the 7th day in a row over 100F, with today's high forecast to be 105. Monday was 108 which was the hottest Sept. day ever recorded. If they're right and front is suppose to come through tonight and bring things back to normal.

I'm finally getting in to see the back doctor tommorow so I figure one more day of not playing might be a good idea anyway.

Dave:

Do you have a bad disc in your back? What does the doc tell you?

Tommorow is my first visit so I'm not sure what's really wrong. It's just gottin so much worse over the last few months I figured it made sense to get a doc to look at it.

The last couple of times I've played it was with a back brace, a muscle relaxer and a handful of Ibuprofin. It sort of defeats the idea of a relaxing round of golf when it's that much work just to make it to first tee.

The doc is a non-surgical spine specialist who has consulted for Back To Golf, a physical therapy group just for golfers, so at least he'll understand what I'm trying to accomplish.

If nothing else I should be able to get some good drugs.

I should really post this in the non golf forum because for the next 5 weeks it's NO golf for me. But this is first time in awhile I've been able to post at all so I'll take what I can get. The site really is messed up huh?

The doc says I have a micro tear in a disc and some other disc wear that will require 5 weeks of physical therapy. After that he wants me to go to Back To Golf, a rehab therapy group with golf specific excercises. That should be interesting because part of the therapy includes swing analysis to see if your swing is contributing to the problem. I mean my back not my score.

For now I can practice around the green chipping and putting, so in the long run I could actually benefit from this. The doc said he's had a couple of people lower their index by several strokes because they spent so much time on their short game during therapy. In any case I'm glad I'll at least be able to do that.

On the drive home I was thinking about our Fall Outing and that how fortunate it was that we postponed it. 36 holes a day for 3 days might have taken me out for months.

I'm suppose to start therapy next week so if I get any good excercises I'll pass them on for the other guys here with bad backs.

You are a GOD!

Sheer Genius, you've just found a way to deduct your golf lessons, and possibly a complete bag ho'ing as a medical deduction.

Another funny post. You are on a roll!!

DaveE:

So sorry to hear about the back and am glad we did not do the outing either...I must say that this is an incredibly creative program...

Maybe we can franchise it. Wirehair will have the Dallas franchise and I can have Birmingham...

Oh, it's better than a deduction, there's a very good chance it's going to be covered by my health insurance. My office partner goes to Back To Golf now for a hip injury and his insurance is covering it.

I have a feeling it just gets submitted as physical therapy. Of course that's just a guess but I feel pretty good about it.

I'm pretty sure only Shiner is covered in our network.

edit: Aside from the kidding around I did go to my first physical therapy session last Friday. What the guy accomplished in one session was impressive. It involved being adjusted, bent, heated up and shocked but I left feeling better. I had homework over the weekend and I go back this afternoon.

I bet I'm back on the course in 3 weeks.
