Shaft Direction at top of backswing

Looking over pictures of the pros their shaft seems to be pretty much parralel (spelling) to the target line, when looking at mine on film i notice that mine seems to point right, (this is from a prospective standing along the target line), now that i'm back to form is this really anything to worry about, or could it possibly cause bad swing habits later on,

It just means the club is laid off slightly nothing to really worry about just means you have to use your hands more.

When I envision what you have just said Gun, I feel that in that position, my swing would be "too inside" to have that position at the top.

Mind you, this isn't such a bad thing. Big John Daly is way off target with his swing, and so is Hank Khuehne. Both huge hitters, both have different backswings.

Control guys like Haas and even Annika are super parallel. I think this truely keeps your swing on plane and, as The Master points out, increases the use of your wrists and arms in the downswing.

But if you're cranking it, don't worry about it. Everyone is different. If that feels fine to you, go with it.

Your shaft position at the top is largely dictated by your hand position in the takeway/backswing. If you use a 1-piece takeaway, and your left arm is in the correct position (R handers) through the swing, you should end up on-target up top-- barring any wanky Furyk-type actions in the mix. By L arm correct position, I mean keeping the plane of the back of your left hand pretty much perp to the ground. I think of keeping my L thump more or less pointing at the sky through as my takeaway transitions into the actual backswing.

Take some slow-mo backswings thinking of these positions and see where you are pointing at the top.
