Golf Destinations

Where in the world would you most like to visit on a golfing trip ? I am going to Portugal in March and am also considering going to the K Club for a couple of days in a month or two, but I would love to play golf in the States.
I have never been to what is most of the folks on this boards country, but I aim to go asap. Would love to go to South Carolina and the vast array of courses there, or perhaps Florida and take in Unniversial Studios, and the like - that has always been a desire of mine.

New Zealand, hands down.

My second choice would be the Bahamas.

Third, interior British Columbia.

I've played a few courses around Orlando. Gators and cotton mouths everywhere. And long drives on that tight grass. You south eastern americans should come up north and play our rough. You'd die...

You guys get Golf World over there ? In this month's top 100 courses you must play feature they have a course called capekidnappers in New Zealand. Looks bloody amazing !!

Cotton Mouth is a snake, often known as a Water Moccasin.It's the only poisonous water snake in North America.

Thankfully, living and playing here in Orlando I have never seen a Cotton Mouth. Gators are almost everywhere there is water. The good thing about Gators are that they basically leave you alone unless you mess with them. In the colder months (you know, the low 60's), Gators are almost dormant and barely even move.

The best advice I can give you for playing in Florida is to always have a club in your hand when looking for your golf ball around water or in the taller grass. Rule #2, unless I can see my ball on the edge of a wooded area or swamp area, that ball is lost and I do not got on a jungle trek looking for it. The fairways, rough, and greens are my domain, the rest belongs to the wildlife. Unless, of course, you want to become a star on the next release of "When animals attack".

Domestically, and if we are talking public and money was no object then...

I'd start in Southern CA I think, and play the likes of La Jolla, Riveria, The Bridges, and La Costa.

I'd then cruise north and play the 3 main courses at the Pebble complex.

Gotta love that film, I was in stitches when Happy got his ass handed to him by Bob Barker.
If money were no object I have always wanted to play all the TPC courses that are featured in the EASports Golf games.
1 - TPC Scottsdale
2 - TPC Avenel
3 - TPC Sawgrass
4 - TPC Summerlin
5 - TPC Southwind
6 - TPC The Canyons

I have played golf in a few different countries but never the states. A dream tour would take in these venues.
Guess I'll have to start saving!!

Would have to be Augusta National then the Old Course. Myrtle Beach is always a solid choice as well.

I have always envisioned a trip over to Scotland and Ireland as the dream golfing trip. I was about 2 months away from realizing that trip back in 1994, but the company I was working for went bankrupt that June and I lost my vacation time and my free air expired (I won a contest at the airport from Swiss Air for 2 non-rev stand-by business class seats anywhere they flew, but they expired in September of that year.) Since that time, I have never been able to reschedule that trip and now that I am married it has become even harder as I will have to convince the spousal unit.

Someday, I hope to get there.

The closest that I will probably come to playing some of the great courses was a round that I played at Golden Ocala up in Ocala, Florida. They have several signature holes from Augusta, St. Andrews, and Troon from what I can remember. I parred the Postage Stamp and Amen corner so I was quite pleased when my round was over.

Yup, the Old Course and Augusta National! Screwed up many years ago when I was in London for 3 months on business and never played.
Even the course superintendant doesn't get to play Augusta... (told that by a VP of golf couse superintendants assoc.)

I will be going to Paris for the first time in my life in December. I know that it is supposed to be coller at that time of the year. BUt I still would like to play. Does anybody know where I could do this? Is there a good course I just have to play?
