Un-F##$@ing Believable

All summer I've played numerous rounds being paired with other very pleasant golfers that were not always good but knew the rules of etiquette.

Today it caught up with me... :(

Dad (40ish) and his (20ish?) son are paired with me for eighteen holes. The dad is the worst golfer I've ever played with. Putts back and forth accross the green with absolutely no feel or attempt to get it. Son gets down okay and occassionally pops a nice drive (he said he's hit some drives 300 ) but I was usually 50-150 yards past them both and I don't hit 300 drives. Anyway, the son can't putt either but he does much better then the dad.

Now the part that really got me. The dad had no clue that he shouldn't walk in someone's line. Matter of fact, he walked right UP my line on a couple occassions to pull the pin. One was a 5' birdie putt. One putt he stood right by the hole holding the pin and was kind of swinging his arm looking around. DUH!! Basically every rule you can imagine he wasn't aware of. :rolleyes:

Should I have said something? This was beyond saying something. It would have added an hour to our round telling him all the things he was doing wrong so just tried to deal with it. It definitely affected my first nine (47) but I was able to block him out most of the second nine (43). :ugly25:

I'm gonna go with nututhugame or someone I know or not at all in the future. There are some real duds out there. :bang:

Exactly the reason I hate Public courses. Glad I get to play a Private one for free!

Know what you mean "J". Sorry to hear you had a bad pairing today, but don't feel like the lone stranger. Me and a couple of friends went to play a nicer muni today. When we got there the pro shop put a single with us to make a 4 some. Super nice guy, not a problem there as far as personality went. But totally ignorant as to how to act on a golf course. Talked right in the middle of out swings, walked over our putting lines, and the worse was that he would walk right in front of you as you were hitting an iron shot. I swear, I barely missed him one time. I know he saw me setting up to hit my 2nd shot, a 4 iron. I had no idea he had walked out into the fairway ahead of me. I hit a low stinger and it couldn't have missed him by more than 3 feet. I think it scared me more than him though.

Hehe, I'm, usually pretty lucky with random pairings, but every once in a while, you hit people like that. This week, I was paired with a couple in their early 60's and when I went to introduce myself to the lady, she backed off and said they asked to play alone because of some anniversary.

I was like...yeah, thanks for the warm welcome...haha. The guy didn't seem to mind as much, but eventually didn't want to confront his lady and I ended up starting on the back nine for a solo round in a cart in 3 hours (took my time) hehe.

Happens all the time, not really much you can do about it except try and make the best of it. Hopefully some interesting conversation

the lady made it bearable

lets see... dude tells me I take to long at address....not.
says, I should just go up to the ball and swing.

I told him, I have a friend who does that and he sucks at golf. lol.

later, the dude is yelling HURRY UP to the slow 4some in front of us in the fairway ( I kinda got a kick out of that). then, as I am am about to make my drive (into the woods) someone from a hole over, yells "SWING" lol, oh, ok, I am surronded.

truth is, I am starting to hate this particular muni course, seems I am always getting paired up with nutcases and slooooowww players. no marshall on the course.
I dont mind the hacks to much, god knows I need improvment, but....

Sometimes a couple plans a little time together & doesn't want the intrusion of another person. Nothing wrong with that.

They were yelling in response to the "MAD GOLFER" I was with.

at this hole, there is a House adjacent. There were people sitting in their yard.

After mad golfer yells at the folks in the fairway, the house people yelled something at him, I just did not make out what they said.

also mad golfer had to take a second drive...duffed the 1st one.
