Wink Season reviewed

Well, crap. I can say crap here unlike some places.

Another season has come and gone.

I have lived in Salt Lake for the past 8 years and go months without being able to play, so we have true golf seasons here although they are fairly long.

This season was pretty much like the past few. I start out okay, but not great...just glad to be able to play again. Then, I actually start playing very poorly and have plenty of great weather and long days and time to play. Then, I consider taking a break from the game after shooting 100 which ends up lasting about a day. All this time I'm paying to play in UGA tournaments and usually not winning anything. Once the tournaments are over I start jamming again and get the handicap low. Then, I run out of time and start over next season.

Crap. Oh well, there is almost always next year.

Here are my scores, stats, etc. the second half or so this season

You know, you can actually say shit here.

My stories are kind of the opposite for this year. I had a pretty good year, I started out really wondering where I'd end up but having ambitious goals. I didn't reach all of my goals, but I did get some level of consistency in (until the end of the season when I started roller coastering my rounds), but managed to pull out the good rounds for the tournaments. Now it's allll good.

Let's move to phoenix. I almost did last winter.

Here's my time line:

Winter: Play some rounds with so many clothes on you can't even swing
Spring: Rust city. Hack for weeks getting the swing back
Summer: Start to play decent, ups and downs
Fall: Game gets back to a real 2 handicap, start playing well...then it snows

Start it all over.

I swear if I lived in a place I could golf 365, I'd be a +1 or +2 since I wouldn't have to spend half the year getting it back from last Winter's layoff.

Just to stay on theme, the last half of the season has sucked the big one so far. To be fair our season lasts 12 months though.

It started ok and around mid-summer I shot the 2 best rounds of my life. The problem was that I had to play with a back brace, a bottle of Ibuprofin a muscle relaxer because of my lower back. I haven't played in about 8 weeks but that's all about to change.

I finished my physical therapy last week and I'm feeling good enough I'm gonna skip the second golf therapy thing. It wasn't gonna be covered by insurance and I'd rather use the money for lessons or a trip to Alabama in the Spring.

I have a good excercise program that I'm sticking to and it's working. I can't remember the last time my back didn't hurt. I can't play this weekend, (fecking work) but next week for sure. Yippeeee!

Same course with all of those rounds dave. or different courses?

Personally, I think playing different courses makes the season much more difficult. I play in two men's associations so I play those two courses each week when in season, but the UGA Ams are at a different course every time. That makes it really challenging and the courses are made to play as tough as possible during those once a year events.

Having the mix of being in a comfort zone then being out of a comfort zone is kind of cool.
