House on the Rock course...for the Wisconsin contingent.

Drove to Iowa today just to screw off, on the way home drove past the House on the Rock golf courses. RTJ designed & I must say from what I could see & that was probably 8-9 holes the courses looked beautiful. Realistically the course may be one of the best I have seen in person.

Going to try & hit it before the weather shuts everything down. Only 55 minutes from my house & golfnow has been having deals for something like $40 or so.

You drove to Iowa and didn't call me????

BASTERD!

The House on the Rock is a very nice course...and the house itself is a great place to visit...would take you 3 hours to see everything there...about an hour or so from me...(I live about 20 miles from Dubuque)

Very nice course. I've only played the newest nine once, but the original 18 many times. The Madison high schools held a big invitational there every year back in the stone age. Before they built all the condos, it was a trailer for a club house and the original 18 built through the wooded bluffs. Not quite as scenic now as progress isn't always an improvement.

You'll like the course a lot. It's been a few years for me, but it was always one of my favorite places to play when I was younger. We used to do a road trip a couple times a year. We played a couple times when it was really hot and humid in the bluffs. Then we would hit the Frank LLoyd Wright designed or inspired hotel and restaurant. They had this cool bar with these low stools where the bartender served you from a sunken floor behind the bar. They had long neck Millers that were so cold the outside of the bottles would frost up when served. Man, we had some great times playing that course. Enjoy it.

Like esox--played this course multiple times when it was The Springs. A very nice course and back then spartan. A mobile home trailer served as the clubhouse.

Good deals are offered now that the shoulder season is upon us. I may play this course if the weather straightens up. I needed to make a trip to Stevens Point today so I played Sentry World today. Nice course. $40 with cart. Saw two other groups on the course.

Wasn't aware you were that close? Takes me just under 2 hrs to get to Dubuque if I take 151, House on the Rock I take 14 out & can be there in 55 minutes.

I like the actual house itself, the rest of the junk there I don't care for.
