Am I a ball ho yet?

I did a stock take the other day.

I have:

1. 6 x 1 dozen - Bridgestone 330s
2. 2 x 1 dozen - Taylor Made Black (LDP)
3. 2 x 1 dozen - Taylor Made Red (LDP)

Then I have what I will term 'part dozens' (box already opened):

• Titleist ProV1x
• Bridgestone 330s

Then after a recent competition win, I have 12 x 1 dozen - Nike One Tour, on the way.

Then .... to top it off, I walked past the latest top of the line Callaways on sale on the weekend (which are drastically reduced) & I felt like pulling the trigger on a dozen 'just to try them out'.

Am I officially a ball ho yet??


Footnote: and I'm not about to sell any of them, cos they're mine, mine, mine!!!

Depends: if you're just buying them and using them on the course, yeah you're a ho.

If you're sitting around at night in a dark room holding them, cleaning them, calling them "my precious balls", you're not a ho. You're scary, demented, and need serious help, but not a ho...

I do that all the time.. I'll walk buy and grab a dozen balls for the hell of it.

I've currently got 8 dozen of the TM TP Red/Black, 1 dozen of each of the Bridgestone B330/B330-S/B330-RX, 2 dozen Callaway iX, and I...

Then, out of no where, I decided to buy a dozen each of the new 09' ProV1 and ProV1x offerings, on top of the 2 sleeves of PV1X I have left!!

Then a massive bucket with almost 90+ balls that I've scuffed, found, put into the practice shag bag..

And then I realized between 4 bags, I've got close to another 2 dozen assorted sleeves.

I can't stop myself sometimes... If they are on sale.. I buy 'em! I have enough balls to last me through NEXT season and then some at this rate.

You guys have nothing on me. NOTHING. I'm not even going to talk about it, but let me tell you that you have no idea what it is to be a ball-ho if you can count your dozens using natural apendages.

I don't buy by bulk dozens since balls are really expensive here, so I only buy my gamers when I have to. But I do love buying individual recycled balls, just to "try" them out. I go to the pro shop jst to check out the latest "finds" in there. Last one was a new Srixon Z-URX for $1 which I thought totally sucked.

But if I lived in the States, you bet I would be buying anything which came on sale

Any time a new ball is on sale I'll grab a dozen or 2. But I always end up going back to a Taylormade TP Red or Callaway Tour IX in a match I'm really trying to score low in. To practice, I'll play the experiments.

I normally play the Red, and I'll play the Black on days where there is no wind, and the greens are softer.

I normally play the Red, or the B330-S..

However, when the Callaway iX go on sale, I normally buy them. Cheaper than the rest, AND they work great..

My guest closet is insane... One side is completely golf related, with shelves stacked FULL of dozens of balls I've yet to open. The other side is literally an army ammo dump site. I have boxes and cases, and boxes and buckets FULL of ammo.

I'll play any cheap assed ball I can find on sale. Right now it's the Srixon AD 333's, but have used Nitro's, Ultras, etc & for my game they all work pretty much the same. Currently have a a number of boxes of D2 Feels, some of the Srixons, ProV1's I won at work, etc.

I saw those Nitros on sale for $5 for 15... at that price, I'd buy 150 of them to just bang off into the water/woods.

I used to think this too. I figured, I'm not good enough for the ball to make a difference. But I've found that the mid-range low spin balls, like the TM TP Red's, Bridgestone e-6's, and Callaway Diablo's, really have helped me out. They bite well enough off my irons and wedges to stop them on the green, and the dimple design or what ever they use to cut down the spin off the driver definitely help control my Power Fade.

The pro-shop here sells bags of used ProV 1's for $15.00, but its a mixture of ProV 1's and ProV 1X's. I can put what feels like the same exact swing on a ProV 1 and the a 1X off the tee and I can tell a difference in the amount of fade I get. The 1X is a fade, the ProV 1 is a borderline slice.

Buy up the TM TP Reds if you like them. Once they are gone, they are gone. Being replaced by the TM Penta TP ball, and they will continue to market the TP Black, which is a very high spin ball.

I'll back a TP Black off the green.... from a bunker.

Just bought two doz. Tour Fires at $13 a piece, but had a $10 off a $25 or more purchase, so got two doz for like $17. At Dick's right now they have quite a few good deals.... mostly on Maxfli's. They have one three piece urethane ball for $15 a doz. gonna try some of those too. Not too long ago I bought three doz. recycled Blackmax at $4 a doz. they've been real good to me.
