How to clean your golf clubs?

There are several ways to clean golf clubs. You can spend a little money on golf club cleaning kits (compare prices) that are available at most golf pro shops. And those cleaning kits work well.
Or you can simply gather up a couple household items. What you need is a plastic bucket (unless you're willing to clean your clubs in a bathroom or kitchen sink), a mild dishwashing detergent, an old toothbrush or other brush with plastic bristles, and an old towel for drying.

Re: How to clean your golf clubs?

Wow. Thank you mate. Up to this point I did not know that water in a bucket (or kitchen/bathroom sink) and a brush would clean my clubs. Here I was trying to clean them with butter and a haddock!

You've saved my clubs from being slimey and smelly! How much and who do I send the paypal to?

Great. Now I have a couple of questions:

1. What size of bucket do I have to use? Is my cousin's swimming tub ok?
2. Does it matter if I don't use a plastic one but an aluminum?
3. Can I use an old t-shirt for drying or is the towel a must?
4. If I use my grand-pa's toothbrush, do you think he would mind?

Thank you for your valuable time and help....

Speaking as a grandpa, I say use the brush since he hasn't needed it in quite some time. But of course you should not bank on my advice. Teresa is clearly the expert here.

Please continue Teresa....your fans await.

Re: How to clean your golf clubs?

And any type of soap or detergent is a bad idea. It does bad things to some finishes on clubs.

I consider myself an expert, as I make my current living washing golf clubs. During the summer I probably wash 50-100 a day. Fantastic Money too

Joy Soap works great with a smooth brush. Doesn't interfere at all with the finish

+1, no grease in grass....

Water from the hose works 100% of the time...it doesn't even need to be warm....

Using soap is like putting 93 octane in a 5hp briggs and stratton because it 'runs cleaner'....

I find that SWMBO's feminine hygiene products work great, and my clubs smell like a field of spring fresh daisy's!

Or maybe you use it because it has an alophatic chain at the end which helps to remove organic mater due to its bonding to the lipid membrane on plant cells, a well as remove biofilms which disolute due to emulsification, making it easier to clean up .

Or maybe its useless... I don't know hehehehe
