because of overseeding. Most of the courses are closed during this two weeks for that. Have had to go to a driving range, hitting balls off mats. The bright side is, the courses will be in great shape when they re-open.
Just sayin'

aww, crappy golf in Arizona for two weeks, poor guy.rop:
Sorry, but don't think you'll find a lot of sympathy here. We had a frost delay Saturday morning and they didn't let us off until 10:15. This morning, it was 10:00 a.m. before we could get on the course due to frost. Forecast for tonight will get us cold enough it will be luckey if the course opens before noon tomorrow.
Our proshop guys get a workout when the frost delays begin. Most of we who are members understand. There are many who play this game that do not!! When the course opens, the tee sheet is begun... from the first tee time. If, for instance, we have the 8 a.m. tee time and get off at 10... the 10 a.m. tee time could be close to noon. (That long a delay doesn't happen, since you will have a certain number of cancellations during the frost delay.) But you have those who will argue and fuss because they aren't going off at 10 a.m. when they had the 10 a.m. tee time. Some really try to throw their weight around. Our assistant pro is close to 300 lbs and has a really patient attitude. But, if provoked, can make "suggestions" about an attitude change that are usually followed post haste!!! LOL
We've had many years where we can play every month. During December and January, we know we will hit a week or two when snow, etc will prevent play. Some pretty good card games get going in the clubhouse during this time. Last year was one of the worst. We got shut down the first week of December and the course couldn't reopen until mid-February. Seemed ice followed snow followed ice followed snow and we just couldn't play. As you venture north of us snow will shut down courses for many months.
Blessed to have a bag full of trustworthy friends who have provided this old man with hundreds of hours enjoying the great game of golf.
I've only ever once in my golfing life, had a frost delay.. And it was only because I got a 7:30 AM tee-time in the middle of winter, and the greens were a bit frozen that early. I only got that early of a time because it was all you can play.. Got 45 holes in.

When I was a lot younger... and a lot stupider... 8 of us (2 foursomes) decided to "play all day". Everyone took off work and we set it up for like a Tuesday or Wednesday... when the course wouldn't be crowded. Summer, so longer days. We went off the first tee at daylight, ~6 a.m. Course told us to play as quickly as possible and they'd make sure we had turn times. We walked the first 36 and rode the last 18 and got 54 holes in that day. If I remember correctly, only two of the eight were able to get out of bed to go to work the next day!!! I see a couple of those guys every once in a while. (Don't live in that area anymore.) When we do see them, the first thing either of them will say is "Do you remember that day we played our a**es off?"
I played 27, twice in the past 10 days. And, today, I ride. Still 27 is more than this old body really wants.

Hey, we just got about 2 feet of snow where I am, with more on the way, so I don't think you have very much to complain about. If the weather forcast is anything to go by, I won't be on the course for the next week. In winter, I can only get out on the course when there'se no snow, it's above freezing, and the sun is out. You're in Arizona, count yourself lucky.
