Buying a new Driver

Hi guys,

Currently have a Cleveland Launcher 400cc driver that I aquired probably close to 3 (or maybe 4 !) years ago now, and although I absolutely adore the shape, feel and distance achieved with it, I sometimes think I could achieve a little better, as technology has progressed somewhat since its launch.
I was out belting the R7 there this afternoon. A local gentleman had kindly left hundreds of golf balls he had found into the shop with us, so I spent half an hour after work belting balls up our Practice range. They went MILES !!! It was our Demo R7 with Taylor Made stock shaft in stiff flex with a firm tip. I usually like hitting the ball hard and high, and will move or shape it according to shape of hole & wind direction. I set up the weights for an optimum 'more fade' in medium trajectory set-up due to the fact that I find the shaft a tad soft. I was hitting it bloody miles, so am kinda considering maybe getting the TP R7. It is lotsa moolau, though, at the end of the day. Not sure what to do - I love my Clevey, but geez - I was absolutely pounding this thing with real nice, penetrating ball-flights.
What would you guys go for in the way of a driver ?

See ya..

Ha ha ! Naw mate, not really overly fond of Cobra drivers, tbh. As good they are in terms of performance, I ain;t too fond of that noise, nor do I like the sound of them. Like the bigger branded shafts, too, so wouldn;t appeal to me. Am a two-handicapper round a tough course, so am looking more of a 'Player's' club. Few TP R7s going on Ebay here for between 250/300 for new or as-new here that are worth checking. Just wish I could afford shelling out that sort of dough, though....

that'll be deemed illegal very soon that one then, yeah ? I wonder what happens when the weights are all taken out. I'd say much of the power from the head wouldn't be able to be transferred towards the ball. Would love a TP one, like....

Cleveland 460Ti with the NV shaft.

That could very welll be the last driver you'll ever buy, it's that good. If I wasn't hitting my GBBII so well, it would be head and shoulders the tops on my list.

That being said, go out and hit a few drivers. I did, and I was quite surprised by the results, or lack of results, as the case may be.

If you're smoking that R7, pick one up. Makes sense to me.

Its all about the money though, Roack lad ! I am going on holiday in 11 days time, got bills to pay, and am joining the gym today, which also will take up some cash, so it's difficult to just folk out the cash for an R7, unfortunately
The thing is, I love my current Cleveland to bits, and would be dead sorry to leave it outta my bag. The 460 Headcover that I use also *looks* amazing, although that is besides the point, ha ha. The Cleveland has helped me produce dozens of quality rounds of golf, but I guess we gotta all move on, eh !? My mates used to say "Get ready for the Launch !" before singing the tune of the commercail dance record, DJ Jean - "The Launch" when I stepped up to the tee, so I guess there'll be no more of that if I do decide to change.
That Cleveland 460 with the composite does look the biz, Rock

That guy has a shat-load of R7's for sale. Perhaps he got them at a great rate because of the missing parts.

99.4% feedback isn't a bad number, considering the 611+ sales he's had.

You'd be better off buying a Launch 460 and not having to deal with it.

Do you have the carbon Ti launcher, or just the regular 460, mate ? I think one can get too lazy with that larger head size, tbh. Imho, of course.
Yeah, one would wonder at where he got those darn things for at such a low price, but reckon you are right, especially considering the vast quantities of items he has sold. They're £599 retail price, those things !

Cool

Andy79: Why don't you just buy that R7 demo you are hitting so well? Makes more sense than buying a new one and having to hope the shaft in it suits your swing. And the demo should be available for a good price, being a demo and all. YOU KHOW THE DEMO WORKS FOR YOU, BUY THAT EXACT DRIVER. That's what I'd recommend.
