OK, boys, Laser Range Finder or Sky Caddie?

I'ma thinking the Bushnell Yardage pro, so I can shoot bunkers, etc, including the yardage to the pin. Although having had one, sometimes shooting those pins gets a mite tricky...

And if the course you're playing on isn't part of Sky Caddie (ie: almost every effin course in Canada), the Bushnell is better.

I want a Bushnell and the SC is useless here, so I'm biased.

I have a Bushnell (dunno which model) and found it real tough to target the pins, especially in wind, and the plastic lug that holds the battery cover on broke off.

Got the Nikon 500G a couple of weeks ago and its so much better. Smaller and simpler, with greater magnification and it samples loads of readings around the reticle area and just gives you the closest one which is pretty much what you want.

I'd go with Bushnell as well, for the same reason Silver mentioned.

Thanks for the input, boys, keep it coming. I didn't know that Sky Caddie was a subscription service for the courses. Does it carry a yearly user fee as well? Would make sense.

& thanks, Creosote, I'll look into the Nikon. Since it defaults to the nearest object, does it still have a rain mode?

I say the Bushnell Yardage Pro for basically the same reason as Silver

Props, bud. After reading your note I checked it out online then tried it live...and I'm sold. That's one gadget that will definitely find a spot in my Christmas stocking! Thanks for the tip!

Cool

I have a laser range finder and I'd do it again. One reason I'd go with a laser is that it's a ONE TIME ONLY purchase. You buy it and you're done spending money, other than an occasional battery. With the Shy Caddy, you have to pay to use it every year. and you never stop paying. For those of you that also do any hunting, the laser really make more sense, one tool for two games. That's my vote.
