Proper tee height

Hello... I am new here.
What is the proper way to setup a tee? Often time I have difficulty setting up a tee. Either too low or too high, and often that doubt crept in my mind during a tee shot. As you'd guess it the result is often not so good. I've seen brush-t, but never try it myself. I have tried stepped tees, and the result was okay. Seemed to have a different feel than a regular wooden tee. I am also curious to see why the pros never used those kind of funny tees. They always use the regular wooden tees. Why wouldn't they take advantage of Brush-t for example?

Cool

Tee the ball up so at least half the ball is above the top of your driver. For you irons, I'd recommend you tee it up just enough to insure solid contact, and ball impact in about the same place as you hit it when hitting off the deck. You want to make contact in the same place so your distance will be about the same. If you tee it too high with your irons, you will tend to hit the ball high on the clubface, and lose distance. Plus, if the ball is close to being in the same position as it is for hitting it off the deck, you only have to learn to hit the ball one way, and that's always a good idea.

With your woods, you have a choice. You can tee it up the same as you do with your driver and try to sweep the ball higher, or you can tee it low like for an iron, and then you will have less difference in the way the ball height between hitting of a tee and off the deck. You should try both tee heights and see what works best for your woods.

I generally have very high ball flight so I tee it up low to help with this.
I use a standard tee and stick it in the ground just enough so it won't fall over.

Works for me.

(welcome to the board)

Slingblade: would it be fair to assume you are talking about hitting your driver with the tee in the ground just enough not to fall over, not with with irons?

yes it would be fair.

Irons get teed up about a half an inch, if that.

Well, brush tees are funny tees, they're a gimmick & gimmicks are designed to separate me from my money.

There's only one proper height for a tee.

As high as they'll wear them.

Talking

Yes, Dave! That looks a proper height to me. Anything less might as well not using one.

Folks! Just found this product while websurfing. Go to www.tlevl.com. What a great product. You can tee consistently at the right height everytime. I have been looking for this kind of tool for a long time.
