Powder Coat

I am going to call this week and see about powder coating all of my Wilson Hybrids. I am thinking I will get each one coated a different color Blue, Silly aren't I? I will find out about how they can do that and mask the face of the clubs. Then when I re-shaft in spring I will have a one of a kind looking set of clubs. Am planning to powder coat once I pull the heads for my reshafting project.

I think it'd look cool.

Vt, do you mean you don't know what powder coating is? Or just not doing it to clubs?

Powder coating is a form of "painting"...as I understand it, anyhow. Something about using powder that adheres to the base compound, makes it better than paint...or something.

Silver you basically got it

Its a means of painting metal that is done using heat and powder form paint(sort of) and it is hard as a rock once you get it on there.

Never heard of it either, I'm afraid.

I am definately no fan of those Wilson Hybrids, btw. I thought Wilson's range for '05 was pretty poor, in fact. Drivers aren't bad, and were quite well priced, but those wedges (designed by Harrington) & Hybrids were just ghastly looking. IMHO, of course...

Andy these are Vitage

My Hybrids were made in 1962, they are older than me. I didn't get here until 1967.

Vt, it's the way 'they' paint a ton of stuff...when I was big into mountain biking a few years ago, it was the way they all got painted. I actually wouldn't be surprised if it's the way a lot of heads are already painted on clubs.

DaveBud:

Another hobby of mine is dove hunting/sporting clay shooting. There are quite a few similarities between this and golf - especially the emphasis on 'equipment'.

It surprised me to find out how much people sometimes 'customize' their guns with stylish or crazy paint. This is primarily the stock....

I've seen guys paint em all sorts of colors, even kind of a 'tie dyed' effect...really funky and something to talk about.

I say - go for it - relating to painting your clubs...you would be the talk of the foursome...

And once you are finished, give us some photos...

I haven't seen anyone powdercoat their clubs but the idea is appealing.
