Speed Stik....experiences?

As much as I don't buy into these things very often, something keeps me coming back the the Speed Stik. The one that Vijay hocks.

Anyone tried this beast? Is it worth it? (I know, it never is, but you know what I mean.)

Comments at will, please...

I'm gonna save you some money. My wife has a son & DIL that live out of state and they always have trouble picking my Christmas prestents. They don't have a lot of money or it wouldn't be so hard.

This year they sent me this swing speed gadget that clips on to your golf club. Looks like it has a sping inside it and there's markings telling you how fast you're swing is. Bet it couldn't have cost more than 5 bucks.

It doesnt' really work in the sense of telling you how fast your swing is but it does register the differece from one swing to the next. The best part is that when you get tired of this one you feel bad about ditching it.

He doesn't buy into the Check-Go, which is proven by science. But he'll hop right on board the Speed Stik Bandwagon, simply because Vijay is on board. Little did he know, he thought he signed on to endorse a deoderant, as the guy said "You stink, this will help" I'll tell ya....

Actually, I've never used one, but have heard mixed reviews mainly dealing with it's accuracy on speed. Just another option, that I have used and feel that you can get more out of it simply because you can use your own clubs and see the different results of different changes in your swing.

Just a little more than the Speed Stik.

I have used this exact one, as it is what my old Pro and Clubmaker used for their testing. They can be found cheaper, but this one is probably the most common.

I know this is going from spending a lot less money to hoing big time, but have you ever thought about something like this.

Since you already have the net in the basement it seems like one of these would make practice time much more effective. I can't even imagine the wife's reaction to this since I'd have to get a laptop to go with it.

What they said. I can swing the speed stick 105-110 mph. I do not hit 300 yd drives.

It does make a nifty alignment aid, tho....

How about Ernie's weighted ball swing trainer? That bad boy is a $20 weighted ball (retail) selling for a cool $120. Niiiiiiiiiiice.

I have had a swing with 3 different types of swing stiks, the senior one, the blue one and can't remember the other I think it was the professional one, thyey are all heavier tha each other, honestly they are not worth the money we ordered 10 into the pro shop and shifted once.

Get a swing setter instead.

Have you actually used this product? I've looked at them in the past, but can never find anyone who has used them, and don't want to put that kind of money into a POS. The one I saw at Golfsmith was only $249, but you don't use a regular ball, and I could see the ball lasting about a week.

I know several tour pros that use them. They are not going to use something that doesn't work.
Like all training aids, they do not work unless you do.

I've seen the one you're talking about at Golfsmith & I have a feeling it's a POS. I was thinking about something that would work with my home practice net.

The one in the link is close to $700 but still not sure how good it is. There's a Golf USA store in Austin that has one that looks like it so I'm going to ask them a few questions the next time I go.

I had the red speedstick.
Not the worse golf gadget, but then not much good either.
The so called swing speed meter is effectively useless, its a small weight that moves by centrifugal force and usually reads 10mph+ higher (to flatter the owner?).
You would do just as well swishing away with a stick, any stick, broom handle, scaffolding pole, or very long piece of spaghetti.
I recommend avoiding.

Got a buddy who received the swingsetter as a christmas gift from his gf. I took about 10 to 15 cuts w/ it while we were warming up on the range. Not really enough swings to feel any change/improvement with my tempo, but the grip forced my hands into a more neutral position rather than my normal super-strong grip.
