Irish vs. Texas - Results

We almost didn't get to play, IG needed to change his plane tickets, and at first American Airlines was reluctant to allow it, but after IG explained about his Pregnant Cousins' wedding and how he had to give the bride away, AA relented and the game was on.

First tee; IG hit the the fairway, DaveE hit the fairway, I hit a tree. Second shot; IG on the green, DaveE on the green, I'm in a bunker. et cetera all day.

After a great day and a close match between two of the three players, the whiskey did not leave The Republic of Texas... I'm sober. DaveE's bar is now well stocked with brown whiskey.

Some guy from Texas with a bad back?

Say it ain't so....

(although, playing without his sticks, in Texas and just getting off a plane....you gotta give the guy credit for playing at all!)

Nice work guys, can't wait to see the pics.

OB's sticks were primo. Mizuno Blades, Cleveland Wedges, Sonartec Hybrid, Titleist FW, Scotty Putter. Bag filled with bridgestone balls. OB really came through for IG.

The Playas will fill you guys in. This fat old non-golfing spectator was basically along for the ride.

What can I say? I gave it my best, and that was just making the tee-time!!
I had an unforgettable day with a couple of stand-up dudes!

Hell wtf I had a great day. Wirehair picked me up from the airport, we made our way to a very brown patch of grass they call a golf course. I was greeted with a awesome set of sticks (thatnks Bob) and some gooooooood company. Dave E played like a man on fire and he won the virtual bird (a bottle of Bushmill's finest! and a bottle that Wirehair pissed in). The pics will follow next week, suffice to say that I had a very individual experience when all is said and done. I played a game in Texas, I drank some beer, met some fine dudes and had a near death expericnce making my connecting flight (that's a whole thread right there). All down in Shottalk Folklore.

Dave E is the New Reigning ST Champ. It was close, but as they say in horse racing, I was carrying too much weight.

Much more to follow in due course once my body an dmind recover from my wanderlust experience!!

Sorry guys, I would've posted sooner but I just now came out of my whiskey induced coma.

Like the other two said, it was a great time that almost didn't happen. In fact, when I went to bed Friday night we had cancelled the whole thing. Irish pulled off some magic at the airport and called me a 5:30am Sat. to tell me the match was back on.

After a quick shower I was out the door at 6:00am with a message for Irish from my wife. I was in a pretty big hurry but it had something to do with him not knowing what time it was.

Ob,s shop is a ho's nightmare or playground depending on how you see it. Lots of cool stuff from the tour playas but I made it out without buying a thing. Found out my irons were 2* flat and one of his guys even managed to take care of that before our round. Great guy.

Irish and wirehair are both fun guys to play with. Had such a good time I didn't even realize how close the match was until Irish told me we were tied going into the last hole. We each had 30 pts.

Irish hit a nice drive that just caught the fairway bunker. I hit a not so nice drive that still managed to roll into the same bunker but about 30yds back. We both had to lay up but Irish's next shot was a little fat & landed about 20yds behind mine.

His next shot was a go for broke 205 yarder that he caught thin and sent to the hazard. His 4th landed just short of the green I think. My 3rd was an ugly yank to left that landed in another fairway about 20 yds away & 40ft. beneath the green. Luckily, I hit a decent wedge that landed just off the green.

From there, Irish chipped and two putted for an uncharacteristic double while I managed a two putt bogey and the match was over.

I'd play with either of these guys again in a minute and hope to get the chance. I'd also like to point out that the Irishman managed to keep it in his pants all day. I forgot a camera but IG will have some good pics when he gets a chance.
