What goes into making a golf club?

HI everyone-

I am new here and have a question. I have a school project where I have to break down the exact costs that go into a golf club (labor, material, R&D expensed, etc.)

The exact club I need to find this information is the Callaway Big Bertha Titanium 454 Driver. If anyone could help me on where to start here, link me to information, I would appreciate it, because I dont know where to start!

Thanks

When I was in the military, information was dispensed on a "need to know" basis.

So my question is , why do you need to know?

Callaway is a public company so you can see their fileings by checking their stock. That would be the place to start.

I have a Callaway 454 Ti sitting right here if you need measurements, photos, ect.

As for R&D costs, I doubt you'd get exact figures for a single club. But, that being said, it would probably be in your best interest to write an e-mail or a letter outlining exactly what you need and for what reason, you never know what Callaway might produce for you. Just be totally up front and honest about it all, details and such. That might be an angle worth checking into...

Let's say a 400$ club from a big name company.
Here is a rough (very rough) guess:
1. 100$ for the components (and that's probably a high figure).
2. less than a 1$ for labour.
3. 50$ for R&D.
4. 100$ for marketing.
5. 149$ for profit.

But as I say, it's just a guess.
Ans as OBagain outlined, check the company's stock profile and SEC quaterly statements to see how much profit they make over overall costs.

As a CE for a very large International company i would doubt very much if you could get that info.
