Thumbs down My Driver Swing

How does my setup look with my driver? Sometimes I feel like I stay behind the ball too much which causes a slight push. Video link to my swing is below.

If anything your head actually moves forward,so the stay behind the ball thing must be a psychological impression on your part.Your left arm is very bent at the top though, this could be caused by you deliberatley keeping the left foot planted, rather than let it do what is wants.

this is how you want your left arm to look, yours breaks down at the top, this is what will cause erratic hits such as the push

are you at 60-40?

You look more 80-20. My guess is that when you miss, you leave it out to the right... am I way off?

I don' think the issue is where the weight is at address, its the fact the head and spine angle move forward during the back and downswing.Just my 2p

I would say the biggest thing is you are planting yourself.
You get set up and then to start your swing, you drop down. This changes every angle you worked hard to get right at set up.
When you do this you can't quite finish your backswing. That is why you are bending the left arm, to try and create a better swing arc.
You also can't shift your weight properly, thus the pushing right.
I would think you would have a fairly low ball flight on mis hits also. The bent elbow could be allowing you to come in steeper and that lets you get away with the swing fault but when you streighten your arm you have a hard time with the driver trajectory.

Thanks

Hey guys,

Thanks for the feedback. I will go work out my issues tonight at the range. I can hit my irons good and my short game is the strongest part of my game. I just need to work my driver issues out. I played two days this weekend. Shot a 77 Saturday at Highland Oaks (Robert Trent Jones Course). Then shot a 76 Sunday. I was one under with three to play and finished triple bogey, bogey, bogey. What a terrible finish to a good round. Thanks again for the feedback.

Slick

I seriously doubt these scores with a swing like that....and a TRIPLE bogey??? After being 1 under??? I'd like to hear how that happened to a player of your obvious caliber...There better have been out of bounds everwhere with a creek down the middle of the fairway..

There are TONS of good players out there, who have a left arm that breaks down at the top. True, it's not ideal for most, but it's not going to prevent him from playing good golf.

How I Screwed My Round Up.

I'll explain how I finished the three holes.

On #16, I hit driver through the fairway and ended up under a tree, pin high. Tried to hit a knockdown shot under the tree and it hit the bank of the green and bounced back. The pin was cut real close to the fringe so I tried to land it on the fringe and let it feed down. Well, it ended up rolling back off the green and into the bunker. I got out of the bunker and three-putted for a crowd pleasing triple.

On # 17, I had 149 to a front left pin placement on a par 3. I hit pitching wedge and pulled it a little left. I chipped onto the green and two-putted for a bogey.

On #18, I hit 5 wood off the tee to a 301 yard par 4. Left myself with 67 yards to a back pin placement on a two tier green. I hit a lob wedge and it landed two-feet from the hole and spun back down to the bottom of the green. Three-putted for bogey.

I walked away very angry after that pathetic finish. I just want to be able to beat the course once in my life. I have never finished under par and I thought it would happen that day. I believe that if I can work my driver issues out, I can go under par one day.

Annika has a bent arm in her swing, don't think it hurt her much.

I agree with the planting thing here. Your legs look very straight but in order for you to maintain that tempo (Nick Price-esque) they have to be because you would be wobbling all over the place if not. You have a similar build to me which I don't think particularly lends itself to such a fast tempo. However, I think if you start changing your set up you will find it actually impacts negatively on your whole swing, but it depends how good you want to get. Personally I couldn't be bothered with a swing rebuild when I have developed myself a nice little rut (I would have said groove, but that is misleading).

This is terrible analogy here for your swing so please don't be insulted. On an episode of the Simpsons Mr Burns is diagnosed with having every known disease but they have no effect on him because they are all battling each other. By this I mean that there are some imperfections in your swing, but they seem to cancel each other out nicely enough to play to a good standard.
