Montlake Golf and Country Club

First hole, 370 par 4. Dogleg left, so keep it R but short of bunker.

#3. Par 4 330 yards uphill. The tee box points you into the woods. A good drive gives an easy chip into the green.

#10. This is the landing area of a good drive, about 250 out. The target is small and well protected. L, R and long are dead.

#12. Par 4 420, and very unforgiving. The fairway is tight and funnels hard to the righ. Slicers and faders need not apply. This shot was from about 200 out, where my partner ended up after a duff and another duff. (I ended up about 135 from the green and only parred it. Doh!)

#13. Short par 3. About 140, but STRAIGHT uphill. I usually hit a 9 iron here, but 7 iron fell just short today, due to gale force winds. (It snowed later in the round> But just flurries.)

These shots are of the #18 tee box, landing area, and green from the path leading to #16 tee box. Interesting par 5.

Due to the winds, I had to lay up to here, the 100 yard market on # 17. Relatively short par 5, but it's nearly impossible to get good distance on the drive due to up hill, triple swells in the landing are. Ball dies into the hills. Notice the green. Give new meaning to "ptotected green".

Shot from the tee box #18 and the landing area. You MUST carry 245 here to get over the boulders, which is touchy for me. I have to tee off with a 3 wood, because driver ends up in the water. The 2nd shot is from ~ 250 out. The winds were so bad today, I flushed a 6 iron from here and still had 130 in. It got brutal out there.

So... That's Montlake. A nice mountain course that plays MUCH longer than the yardage would indicate. It's not in the greatest of shape right now, due to winter conditions and some renovation, but at $26 yearround for 18 holes with a cart, or walk for $16(exhaustion!), it's the best deal in the state. Because it is so difficult, hardly anyone plays it, and becuase I live 3 miles away, I do. Sorry for the huge pics, but hope ya'll enjoy.

Awesome post. Love to see another course. I'm taking my camera with me next time. I'm gonna post up a few from earlier this season that my friend took when we were out as well.

Excellent.

$26 to ride. $16 to walk. But it's a hike. The course basically makes it way up a huge elevation change, then comes back down the last few holes. The pics are kind of misleading. It's usually very nice, but winter conditions aren't flattering.

I only took pics on a few holes, because 75% of the tee shots are so tight, it takes a lot of concentration to play.

Sweet course. The tee boxes look a little dogey, but apart form them looks like a good course. Thanks for sharing, crowe.
