| Report of My Las Vegas Golf Weekend What a weekend! Landed in LV on Thursday at 10am. Went directly from airport to Rhodes Ranch. Since I typically play on New Jersey munis, all the course I played in LV were extremely nice. Rhodes was a very nice course with a great par 4 11th hole that can be driven from the tee but over water! Of course this being my first round of golf since August, I plunked my tee shot in the drink. I was incredibily rusty in all phases of my game. After the round, we checked into the Bellagio. Very, very nice hotel. The fountains in front are something to see!! Friday we played Bear's Best. Great Nicklaus course of his favorite holes. Bear's has forecaddies that were very helpful. At Bear's I started to fall into a groove and my drives started to straighten out. I was feeling a bit more comfy with my swings. Ate in Todd English's Olives at the Bellagio for dinner that night. Great food and the restaurant is right along the Bellagio fountains so you can see the water erupt every few minutes. On Saturday we played Silverstone. This course has three nine-hole layouts. Fairways are wide and its a forgiving course. One of the Silverstone course supposedly has the longest par 5 hole in Las Vegas at 653 yards. Unfortunately most of the water on the course was dried out. Still, I totally found my swing at Silverstone and hit about 15 of the 18 fairways. My short game needs a ton of work, though and my plan this Spring is to enroll in a short-game school. Dinner on Saturday night was at TAO at the Venetian. This is a real hot spot with an excellent Asian fusion menu. This was my frist time in Vegas and it was a hectic weekend but the plan was to get in as much golf as possible. I hope to return soon and take some more time to see the strip and play some nicer courses like Paiute and Wolf Creek. |
