You know we golfers are going to be inundated with advertising guff from whichever ball manufacturer gets this deal. They will probably find one or two of mine already up there from when I've been trying to knock the skin off it and gone right underneath it.

Question: If the ball burns up on re-entry, how can they claim it as the farthest drive ever? Where to you measure the distance to? As they will not be able to find and identify the ball won't it be considered a lost ball and they will have the stroke and distance penalty?

Well, the article says that the ball will travel for millions of miles, so I guess it's probably safe to say it'll be the longest drive ever.

The ball is expected to travel millions of miles - its progress tracked using global positioning transmitters as it gradually loses altitude through atmospheric drag.

True enough about the penatly strokes though.
