Which Grip?

I was taught the interlocking grip by my dad. I couldn't feel comfortable any other way. Besides if it is good enough for Tiger and Jack that stands for something. I am interested to find out what is the most popular grip among us.

Overlapping for me. Though I did try Baseball for a spell once when I was re-covering from a broken right pinkie.

Interlocking. My hands just do not feel comfortable in the overlap.

I use the overlap. I was taught that by a pro, and went through a great deal of trouble to get out of my axe-handle grip and into a proper one so I am never changing. I've thought about the overlap because I have small girlish hands, but after the time it took to get this one nice and comfy, I always decide against it.

I use the overlap. I experimented for a season with the 10-finger grip a few years ago.

Smalls hands, interlock. Big hands, overlap.

But it's all personal choice.

This is what I've always heard, but having learned with an Interlock and having bigger hands, I try an Overlap at the beginning of each year and it does go back to personal choice and I go back to the Interlock. My hands just do not usually feel "as one" with the Overlap, plus my pinky on my right hand is kinda bent (damaged) a little and wears into my left index finger.

Hey, I can't vouch for freaks.

Just kidding 'Hawk.

As I mentioned, it's really a personal preference. But that's a good rule of pinky, er, thumb.

I switched a few years ago from interlock to overlap. Spent an entire winter just gripping a wedge trying to get comfortable with the grip.

I prefer the overlap and I don't have big hands (men's cadet small)

Jayhawk

That explains alot, I have decently large hands and I really couldn't figure out why the interlocking worked so much better for me. Now thanks to your insight I think I got it. I have broken my pinkie at the hand twice and my ring finger at the hand once, my hand is fully deformed, when I make a fist my last 2 fingers do not have a pronounced knuckle at all. When I interlock my pinkie is actually pushed up a little so it all makes sense now.

Broken pinkie eh? Who did you punch?

When I broke mine the nurse said its almost always from throwing a bad punch.

First learned at age 9 with interlock untuil about 14 when I found out nearly all the pros use overlap/Vardon grip, so changed to that. After using that for about 10 years i found that it felt a bit weak so changed to baseball (and felt a bit embarassed about doing it because I've always been told that it's what beginners use). Never looked back! It eliminated my hooks and must have easily doubled the number of fairways I hit plus it seems to have given me a much more sensitive touch for chip shots too. Oh yeah, and because I feel more confident I am also hitting the ball significantly further.
