Your putting technique.

What is your setup/drills for good putting?

Thinking about it (for a right handed golfer) the left hand should keep the putter square and the right hand should be used for power?

What are you thinking about when you hit your putts?

Thanks

Chris

Please, God, don't let it finish further away than where I am now.

I'm a Pelzer: dead hands & wrists; shoulder pendulum stroke only.

I just put the ball in the hole and forget about technique altother.

It's much easier that way.

I approach the ball slowly and squarely, close my eyes and make the "nah nah nah nah nah nah nah" noise that Chevy Chase did in Cady Shack

When I make my practice stroke I want to think about keeping my right hand straight. If I were holding a ball in my right hand, I want the ball to roll right down the shaft and into the hole.
This helps me keep my hands quiet and the shoulders determine the speed.

My technique:

Ball inside left heel with putter behind it. Keep head still but follow putter with eyes. Putter back to right heel, don't look at ball. Follow through and ball goes into hole.

Very square stance with ball just forward of center. Keep hands very quiet and concentrate on shoulder powered pendulum stroke. Short backstroke with longer followthrough.

I also use a putter with a very short shaft to help the pendulum stroke and a very large (Great White) paddle style grip to keep the hands quiet. Putting is probably the strongest part of my game.

i try to concentrate on keeping my hands soft and quiet through the stroke. i let my shoulders make the stroke. i use a double overlap grip (left index and middle finger overlap in between my pinkey and wring fingers). when standing over the putt i try not to concentrate on technique very much, i try to commit to the line and execute.

This may sound strange but I go into a zen like state when I putt. I've had people tell me that I'm the best putter they've ever seen. I do have a pendulum stroke, no wrists for sure. But I don't ever have to think about technique, or the length of the stroke....

One thing.

CONCENTRATE

From after my shot into the green till i've holed out, I don't say a word. Complete silence. All my partners know this so they don't think i'm just antisocial.

Stance way open, bend down very low over the putter. Thinking smooth stroke and always have the target in mind. I always take a few looks from the putter to the hole and back again before I pull the trigger to make sure I'm lined up. Sounds a little odd but has worked for me (it won't now that I've said that).
