British Open Practice Day

I'm going to the Tuesday practice round with my mate (odd grip dave). It's £25 and comp' days are £50!! I remember I paid £48 for the last two days of competition but that was back in 92. Anyway, I've never been to a practice day before, are they any good? How do they compare to the comp days?

Best day of golf watching ever was the Ryder Cup at the Belfry in 93, it was a fantastic atmosphere which made the two British Opens I've been to seem almost dull by comparison. I'm a bit worried that there won't be any excitement at the practice day and seeing as this is the first time my mate will have been to a golf event I don't want it to be a let down. (Sneaky ulterior motive is that after seeing the best in the world he might change his grip round - let sleeping dogs lie my arse!)

I'm ashamed to say that I'm only interested in the big names but I'm going to try and justify that by saying that I can learn the most from their swings because they are the best in the world.

(did you believe me or am I just a golf groupie?)
