Hi there! Please Help!

I just started getting interested in golf about a month ago, after doing a bit of research online I was overwhelmed with the amount of information. Im looking for a driver to get me started at the range. Looking to spend somewhere around 50-80 dollars, yea hehe I'm kind of broke. But I just need to get started. I'm 6'3 225lbs right handed. I was just wondering if you guys have any suggestions for a driver that would suit me well. Ive been looking at the Dunlop brand at walmart but I was wondering if theres anything out there that might be better suited for me.

I would suggest buying a better brand used. Do you have any places that sell used clubs in your area? I have a Golfer's Warehouse and they always have at least 2 dozen used drivers in that price range. I like TaylorMade and I'm sure you'll hear about the Cleveland Launcher from other guys. Ebay is always good but it would be nice to give one a few hits before you buy.

Dunlop makes the LoCo Pro with a seriously gawdy yellow shaft.....If you can find one at Dicks or someplace like that, get it. They were selling for $80 or so....should be less by now.....good driver, cheap.

Anytime you are looking for used equipment, try this great company in Boston called 3balls.com....

http://www.3balls.com/

Also, our own Obagain here - located in Ft. Worth TX, is a retailer and equipment expert....

Do you think you could scratch up about $350 or so for a complete set of clubs? If you could, we could have a contest to suggest club combinations for you.

(Here is an example of what you could get on the 3balls site for a little more than what you have in your budget...

350 right now is def out of my range. Just looking for a cheap driver so that I can get the hang of things at the range. Maybe in a few months to a year Ill be ready for some real golf.

When the Loco was released, it recieved the "Best Bang for the Buck award" from Golf Digest.

That says something. Although I have heard of guys snapping the shaft on those things....Sling, didn't this happen to you?

yaoooooo84, If you are just starting out I would not by a driver first...I know this is not the sexy thing to do, but trust me it is one of the more difficult clubs to control....Start with some kind of middle iron and go from there...No since getting frustrated starting out, especially if it is going to be awhile before you actualy hit the course.....

Buy a set of Golfmate clubs for a buck-fifty or so. Learn the game and get proficient with a cheap set. Then move on to bigger and better things.

yea i went to the range a few times and practiced with a few irons and woods, but its more fun to hit it far lol. I feel a lot more comfortable with a driver than an iron right now. If anything I can always rent irons from the range. I really want a sexy driver because chicks dig the long ball =)

I dont plan on going to the golf course anytime soon. If anything I can buy a cheap set of clubs when I feel im ready for the course. But right now I just want to work on my swing and build some consistancy.
