460 off the deck?

Moving up to a 460 I was wondering, is it possible to hit off the deck?

I used to be able to hit my 8.5 degree 975J from the fairway without too much problem if the lie was good. I would rarely think about it with the 983K, unless I had a great lie which was slightly uphill.

How about the 460? I guess with the sweet spot raised on the face, all one is going to get is a really low shooter. Anyone?

The master is an unknown quantity at this point
On Saturday I hit my Nike Ignite 460 from about 240 into a srious wind the thing went about 10 feet in the air with a nice darw ended up about 20 feet from the pin. So I don't see why you shouldn't be able to if the lie is good enough.

Possible, yes, but not the desired shot. The big headed drivers, as I'm sure you know, have the sweet spot intended to be hit higher in the face for maximum COR. If you tee the ball low, you get a worm burner, just as the Master described.

I think you'd probably hit better more often with a 3wd in comparison to the face of a 460, but that's my opinion.

The only way I would try it is if I brought a small spade with me to dig a trench behind the ball. Lord knows the last time I tried my 450 off the deck I put a crease in the fairway you could lay a water-line in.

The wind at the weekend was fukking shocking, eh !?!

Easy enough to do, but just expect a slight cut with a low traj., Mark. I'd rather play a more controlled shot with a 3-wood, though, and sacrifice a few yards.....

funny you mention this, i took my 400cc driver off the deck today for a nice 250 yard ride into the wind from the fairway today. one of the few good shots for the day, only way you'll know is if you get out and practice it, i always dedicate at least two balls out of every range bucket to this shot and it pays off every once in a while. use sparingly though if it even works in the first place, you really would get more out of a 3 wood then the driver off the deck imho
