Thread: 42 effing putts!!

  1. 42 effing putts!!

OK, so I didn't play that great today, but my 86 comprised 42 shots with the flatstick. Played with Andy who struck the ball beautifully but he only managed a 78 (with 37 putts by my estimation). Not a good day.

The course and weather were "bad assing" today. 6,800 off the tips in a strong wind, greens are still bumpy and patchy. I doubt there will be many good scores in, but even if I had 33 putts (not great) I would have had a 77.

WTF, I caught the hole about 5 times from distance, none dropped. And I had only 1 single putt green.

Back to the putting drawing board. Quiet Eye, my ass!!
Doctors say that you should eat 5 pieces of fruit or veg a day to remain healthy. Last week I ate 5 mouldy plums and that night I shat the bed. What's healthy about that?:shocked::shocked:

  2. Hard luck IG.

Today was a tough day, thyat was a good 3 club wind down here by the sea.

On a day like today you need to be relying on holeing everything from 10 feet in, because on days like this on some holes into the wind you wont be reaching in two and will have to make putts for par.

With 42 putts I am not at all surprised you shot 86.

Not bad from Andy I sure SSS will be a couple over.
Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.

Greens are pants, man, it has to be said. Not bad at all on the front side, but those back-nine greens are truely woeful !! They've gone to the dogs, and they are totally non-representitive of what you've played 1 through 8. Need rid of that stupid English tosser, imo. I'm sure you would agree with me on that, too.

Yeah, I am hitting the ball pretty good. Expecting a sub-par round out of myself soon. Just pissed off with one or two things today.

I am still in a state of shock with what happened your putt at 13 today. That was real strange......!

    42 putts.
    So that makes.
    1 putt: 1
    2 putts: 11
    3 putts: 5
    4 putts: 1

Ouch! I feel for you IG.

Are you counting putts from just off the fringe, Mark ? Ie. like the one at 14, for example ? If so, I had more than what you have stated. Not a single one putt did I have, either. Deserved to have 75 or less, me. That would have been a good score in that wind, too. Ahh well, such is life........

LOL I feel for you IG, Played in charity event Fri, first chance to give the QE idea a try on the course ( I was thinking I had found the meaning of life almost). Worst putting in years But I think the problem was partially being a lauderdale and putting last I tended to putt too firm (wasnt gonna leave it short if my p's left a 6"er) and mostly was concentrating on the QE concept rather than just doing it. thought too much about seeing the spot. I think practice till it is a natural occurance rather than an effort is the key. But do look forward to seeing what you come up with on the drawing board. by that time I will have given up on the QE and looking for a new fix.

  10. You guys will probably get tired of me plugging this article but the Quiet Eye article by Golf Digest is the single best tip I have ever implemented. I've been using it for a week and I now putt like I never have before. F'ing Awesome.

Go on then, I missed this one how does this QE idea work then? (or not as the case may be)?

I have just changed to a belly putter because my back stroke with a standard one looks like zoro's slash!!! Seem's to be working last Saturday off the Comp pots shot a gross 79 nett 70 tied 4th, yesterday shot 37 points in 2nd comp of the season tied 3rd. Not a bad start to the season.

  14. For all those who bitch about putting: I had 35 putts today, and still shot a 101. :(

I never felt comfortable in the whole 18, so I played another 9. I felt much more relaxed, but still shot a 50.

    I suck.

If it makes you feel better (Probably won't), I had 29 putts and a 102. Terrible day for everything but chipping and putting. I believe that was my first time over 100 this year, which is good I guess, just a terrible day hitting the ball all around.

At least my putting seems to be sorted out. I have only had one round over 30 putts since removing some of the weight from under the grip and going back to the original grip. Putting like I was 3 years ago.
