You call yerself a golfer with scores like that, Dave ?!??

My putting was decent yesters. Missed a couple of putts from within 2 feet on both 13 & 14, but still managed to roll home in 72 blows in tight enough wind conditions. Lost 0.2, so am back down to 2.2 again. You've some catching up to do by the sounds o' it, Dave...!

Sounds like a classic case of "I think I can't, I think I can't" syndrome. You will do what your mind tells you to do. Change up your mindset some. The good news is that you have complete control over it, if you choose to adjust your attitude.

You probably don't want to hear this either, but you'd be a lot closer to fixing the problem if you were out on the practice green right now as opposed to griping on ST.

Just my opinion of course. It sounds harsher than I intended.

No confidence, eh?

Sorry, no hope for you. Might as well chunk your clubs into the nearest river.

Have you tried a long putter? Seems to have helped some oldtimers with the yips.

That seals it - I'm never posting in any but the "Hackers Anonymous" section. Ever.

If it makes you feel better I can't get off the tee box. I hit my Irons and putts like a seasoned tour vet but I am having some major major driving issues. For instance yesterday on the eight hole (340 yard par 4) I pulled out my utility club and popped one up to second base. I then took a mulligan and duffed one about ten feet. The thing is I know it will come around. Just like your putting will come around. If golf was easy and consistant then everyone would do it. Endure my friend, endure.

Andy,I take some comfort from the fact a scratch guy 4 putted from 6 ft on these top dressed greens, but never ever in 25 years has this happened to me before,I've been totally thrown off by bad jumpy greens. The ground staff are 3 weeks behind thanks to March and early Aprils bad weather, but every golfer is in the same boat but I bet no one hit as many putts on the carpet in winter as me,which is half the problem,i am ****ing great on fast touch greens, ask me to clatter a ball through troughs and top dressing i am bollocksed

So I'm guessing the guy in your avatar is a lot like you right now?

I can't actually help you out sorry cause regardless of your putts that's still about 10 shots better than my best rounds. But maybe just take a break from comps, other than the prizes you may win they should be really no different to playing a regular round.

Yep, that advice sucked, but I'm just trying to help out you know, show a bit of support.

Well, my problem is I can't hit the friggin green

My best round ever: 86 from whites at Hickory Knob
14/18 fairways; 5 GIR; 37 putts

The 14/18 fairways is also the best I have ever done. This game is a lot easier from the short grass.

Thanks, Doug. You and your buds need to come over to the SC side and play Hickory Knob. It's fun and cheaper than Arrowhead Point, too. Not crowded today. I played 18 in 3 1/2 hours.

We are planning on that soon. or at least we keep talking about it. If I remember right greens fees are about $25 as opposed to the arrowhead $50? The georgia state parks are just overpriced for a taxpayer supported/owned course.
BTW make sure you are on the GA parks mailing list. Got a postcard from them for my birthday that is good for a free round.

Yesterday at 12:32PM it was $20 for the round and $13 for the cart. They also have a twilight special that starts at 2PM: the works for $25.

Yearly membership (pay for cart only) is $450! God, I wish I lived closer.

Is it way too expensive to think about paying for membership of a good golf course ?
