Got dicked by the weather

It was a bank holiday here yesterday so I played early to appease Mrs. IG. There was a May Day Medal Competition at the club. But the weather early on was more like February, strong gusty winds, and showers that “made my hands turn blue”. Quite a task off the back tips!

I hit the ball great and despite some average putting (35) I skated round in 80 for 33 points, which I felt was "better than good" playing in those conditions. Then after lunch the weather goes and turns. The sun came out, the wind dropped (and despite a few showers) and it turned out to be a typical day in May.

I reckon an analysis of the scoring will show a distinct am / pm differential.

Anyway, just some mindless rambling to show how unlucky I am in life etc.

You're lucky that Mrs. IG let you play, no?

I was level after 8, then dropped a couple as it was **unbelievably** slow:- Coupla dozen Yanks & a group of French gents and their wives, who couldn't hit the ball out of their sight ! Took us 4 hrs to play 13 holes, so jacked it in. It was truely attrotious !!

True, some of those showers when you were out were real bad ! Wind probably dropped a bit in the avo, you're right. Didn't stop big Michael McCurdy, though - he managed to secure 23 points on the front nine in the morn'....

(P.S.; greens still pretty damn bad on that backside...!)

I find that quite remarkable, how many did he finish with? Played with Gerard B. Great ball striker and a decent putter. Couldn't believe he's up to 4 now, I don't think he is playing very much. I could see him shooting a sub par soon.

I agree about the greens. Poor but some signs that they are getting better.

Turn the frown upside-down and post the score for the ROTW tourney. At least start this thing off with a low quota.

Bear in mind he is off 21, right enough ! Still a good achievement, considering. He only had 16 on the back-nine for a 39. Was best I had heard, though...

39?

That's not that good! There's this guy in my club who won a stableford competition with a 57!!! Needless to say, he's unsure on how stableford actually works and he forgot a few shots.

Somebody's won a Stableford at my club with a 16 before... Yeah... Weather was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad...

57 points that is nearly impossible, but yes someone who maybe gets a 28 handicap but can shot in the 70's, then it is possible but very rare. To win with 16 points is incredible never heard that before.

And yes 39 can be a good score as it plays upto a 4-5 club wind, which makes it near impossbile.

57 points. That's rolling it.

I wonder what the high was for the ST tourney last year?

Swingspeed? It's either 107 or 127. Depends how pissed off I am from the last hole...
