An interesting new development from Cleveland Golf

I went by a local golf shop the other day to discuss club fitting, and the topic of discussion turned to ebay, and how the shop owner turns to it on occasion to sell some of his inventory to help make ends meet.

Anyway, this shop happens to be an authorized Cleveland dealer, and he had received a little note from Cleveland in the mail stating that if any authorized dealer is caught peddling Cleveland products on any of the auction sites (ebay, amazon, yahoo), then they will have their authorization revoked.

So, this could get interesting, since the only Cleveland equipment that will be available on ebay will be from private parties and not authorized dealers.

Personally it doesn't affect me at all, since I don't own (or look for) any Cleveland stuff, but I know that it tends to be a favorite here, so I thought I'd bring up the topic of discussion.

Of course this could be a non-issue, but it's interesting...

Ping has had this in place for a long time. But you see it happen anyways.

Personally, I can always find a diamond in the rough from a fellow club ho who wants the next best thing almost more often than paying 10% off retail pricing for a new club from a shop.

You take your chances, but more often than not, it works out for the best using E-bay. If you know what you want, be patient and be smart.

You said "E-Bay", "patient", and "smart" in the same sentence.

    That does not compute. Error...Error....

Ya, but did you buy them on E-bay for $400 like Eracer?

    Uh... well... no.

I still gotta get privy to all the inside jokes around here.

Believe it or not, though, the TB2 woods are still highly sought after, and go for about $65-95 on average, depending on condition... even though they're about 11 years old.

I think I paid about $130 total for my 3 and 5 woods.

Are authorized dealers allowed to buy off e-bay and then turn around and sell out of their stores for twice as much?

Ive always assumed that this happens alot, but I could be wrong like always.

It would drive prices down a little if dealers werent bidding on everything.
Give me a club and a ball and I will find water in the Sahara and sand in the Amazon.

  9. Those Raylor woods are awesome. I can attest to that
