That's not fair! You can't pre-empt our taunting like that... post the video and let us make the snide remarks.

I know what you mean though... I never realized how much of a putz I look like when I swing, until I saw myself on video.

OK, here it is: http://media.putfile.com/May-16-swing

Let the taunting begin........I'll go first.

Standing way more erect than I thought I was. This is a 2 plane swing! I read the wrong friggin sections in The Plane Truth. I'm gonna try bending over more.

Right leg too straight on backswing.

What's with that way too long backswing? Jeez, I look like John Daly when he's drunk.

Wow... I've never seen a 6-plane swing before... but now I have.

LOL... just kidding.

Actually, you kind of have a reverse Jim Furyk swing... he comes up steep, and moves to a flatter plane as he swings... it's really bizarre, but effective.

Yours is exactly the opposite... you start out on a flatter plane then attack the ball at a steeper angle... when your right elbow pops up in the video is when you change the angle of attack... I had to watch the video in slow-motion to see it, because watching it full speed it's hard to see.

Your form really isn't that bad... but you're right on the backswing... your clubhead almost wraps completely around you and touches your stomach.

You're also leaning a bit backward on your right leg on your backswing, like all your weight is on your heel.

Of course this is the blind leading the blind here, so take it as you will.

All good points, David. Now where's your video?

I plan on taping some more today, if I get the chance. I will definitely work on some, er, problems with my swing.

The exciting thing is, I never would have known how f*****d up my swing is without video. Now to see if I can do anything about it.

That's the first think I noticed as well when I videoed my swing, I was too upright.

I went to the range at lunch today and tried to get in a better posture. Sure seems awkward. Ball flight was better, though.

I will work on getting some new video from today into a couple of clips.

I don't think you are too uprght for a driver.
When you start your swing, you are not turning. You drop your shoulder to simulate a turn.
You cant keep your left arm streight because you are useing it to try and get a bigger turn, in reality you are shortining your swing arc.
Because the left arm is bent you have to cast the club to get it started but everything is still out of sync so the left arm is still bent.
You have 2 fnishes, your real where your hands are right aginst your chest and then your fake, where you lift up to make it look like a pretty finish.
Try putting a head cover under your right arm pit, you should be able to swing without it dropping out.
That will help a lot.

You lost me, ob. Do you mean that I'm not turning on the backswing or the downswing?

I'll try the headcover drill.

Doc, the total evaluable portion of your swing is the first 1/2 of 1 sec of the video. Though it was fun to see you walk around the tee box...

A head-on view would be good to decifer a few things, like weight shift and what OB was saying about your backswing. I'm betting a reverse pivot with that over the top move.

You are right, you need to keep a bit of flex in that right knee. Again, it doesn't look like you're turning over your right side.

Your left wrist looks flat right before you hit the top, and as you initiate your downswing. Congrats, this is a good thing. You need to simplify what goes on in between, however.

Although I also don't think you're too upright, you do need to maintain your angle of attack through the ball. Again, a head-on view will tell you more how to maintain your position. And mirror work, as Ezra stated, will help here as well.

I took some video today with headon and downtheline views. I'll work on digitizing them tonight,

My first video, and already the critics are on my case. Sigh Creativity like this is not easy, you know.

I edited out the cusswords and when I farted.

I am talking about your hips. Instead of turning them you dip your shoulder and left knee. Put a club across your hips and turn, the shaft should not move up and down much. In your swing it would be a big movement.
If you can correct that and keeping the left arm streighter, not locked, but streighter you will see a big power boost.

These are just my hacker impressions, take with salt.

If I were you, I'd definitely consider shortening up the backswing. I think you're fine up to the point your arms reach level with the plane of your shoulders, but going above that probably creates more problems than any additional power to your swing.

The headon view, it looks like you aren't really getting your weight to your left side, you're not completely hanging back, but you aren't really driving through. I would link this again to the arms going up above the shoulder, let me explain.

Try doing your present swing in slow motion. Or look at your vido. Watch what happens when your arms go up over your shoulders -- you begin a reverse pivot! So then when you downswing you have to make another shift of weight back to your right side, then start the weight forward to the left again.

Yep, I'm sure of it now. The headon definitely reveals you making a reverse pivot when the arms go up over your shoulders.

I agree 100%, and I would not have seen it or known what to work on without the video. Thanks for the critique.

I plan on taking the videocam with me for every range session from now on.

What did you think of my movie? This is the first time I've ever played with video and it's kind of fun. Obviously, I need to learn somethings about compression, sound, etc.
