This may be a bit bizarre

Tomorrow, I am going with two friends to play a course called FarmLinks. The owners claim it is the "world's first research and demonstration golf course". It is about 35 miles from my house.

Click the link below and go to the left side of the screen for "Current Research Projects"

http://www.farmlinksgolfclub.com/view.asp?id=4&page=28

I have heard some good things about it from friends and acquaintences. It got some sort of award recently...

http://www2.cybergolf.com/honours/im...e_Award_V2.doc

These people have the weirdest pricing/business model I have ever seen.

Give them $100. No less - no more.

For the $100, you can play 9 holes or 18 or 36 for that matter. If the day is long enough, they wouldn't mind if you stretched to it 54. But whatever the case, you must pay $100. Carts included.

Range balls? Unlimited. Hit as many as you want.

Hungry? Sure, they will feed you lunch at no extra cost.

But you gotta pay 'em the $100.

Well being the cheapskate I am, we're gonna play 36 tomorrow and I am going to bring the camera for some pix...supposedly there are 8-10 different types of turfgrass on the fairways (for testing) so it may be kind of interesting to see how your shots react to the different grasses.

I'll probably shank it just as badly off zoysia as I do off bermuda.

Pix to follow on Sunday.

Oh, hell yeah! I'd be there at the crack of dawn, play 18, eat like a pig, play 18 more, eat like a pig again, and play my last 18.

It is all you can eat, isn't it?

Wonder if they let you take naps? Play 18, eat, nap for an hour. rinse & repeat! Hell I'd spend an entire day there

WTF kind of golf course is this?

Maybe afterwards, you'll all go into a big room to pay respects to "The Leader" and you'll all fly away in a big space ship.

Or a mass suicide.

Say high to Tom Cruise for me.

The course is well known around here...My best guess is the Yapper would never set foot on it. It's located in a small town out in the country and we will have a bit of a ride to get there. There will probably be cows grazing outside the fairways.

If they have stomas and colostomy bags and resemble John Daly or Craig Stadler, on a Toro I would run? Have you ever seen the movie Motel He!!?

Actually, it looks like it would make for an interesting day, although I am not sure I would be able to adapt to playing off different grasses and textures every hole.

You'd be surprised how difficult it is to adapt to different grass conditions. That's why many of the Tour guys go over seas early to get a few rounds in and some practice to get used to the change.

Playing on Bermuda and that quick shit they have down in FLA kicked my ass in Kissimmee one year....

Come on man, its just like sliding a puck on ice or sliding stones to the house or whatever it is you do up in the Great White North during the winter . At least its warmer when you are dealing with the green speeds down here in FLA. If your ever in town I can send you some place where the greens are not so fast.....well except for the bare spots in the burnt out areas .

I can't remember the course we played. It had a gator on 13....does that help?

I remember my drives being at least 40 yards longer down there too because there is ZERO grass on the fairways. Drives just kept going and going. My dad hit a topped 3 iron from 230 and sunk it for a birdie because the damn ball just kept rolling and rolling.

I never did figure out those greens.

"The water is there, so why is the ball breaking away from the water, uphill? Oh right, because Sea World is that way."
