Brian Barnes on Sky Sports UK

For all his success in his golf career, Mr Brian Barnes must be the single most annoying co-commentator on Sky's Golf coverage, with swing analysis all his ideas are trapped so far in the past it's sad to listen to. anyone have a similar view and maybe have a commentator worse than Mr Barnes

Ah ... the man that handed a bottle of beer from his 6pack to my buddy in the gallery during the Irish Open mid 80's .... haven't got a bad word to say against him ..

There was a long article about Brian Barnes in the US edition of Golf Digest about three years ago. Sounds like quite a character who loves to drink. There were many stories about him playing in pro tourneys half snockered...

"snockered" .. LOL must remember that one Bravo ...yep his drinking was ..emmm... legendary. I think he's on the wagon now... he did draw parallel's with Mr. Daly .. tho Barnes' was very public - he'd crack open a bottle on the course.

I think golfwise his school report would've read ."could've done better".. glimmers of brilliance - beat Nicklaus twice in the 1 day in Ryder Cup, and I think he went close in The Open. I do remember him winning the Seniors Open - so maybe his golfing potential is being realised on the seniors tour - or maybe it's the 1st time in a long time he's not staring down at 2 or 3 golfballs with a pink elephant in the background..

This was prominently featured in the article...his double win over Nicklaus.

Actually a sad story really. Unrealized potential.

I never watch it, I'd be interested to know what stuff he is coming out with if you have the time to tell me. Please don't tell me he is off the old "slide the hips through from the top of the swing" brigade.

Oh yeah and turn the hands over through impact etc etc...... I am not saying he should go in depth but he should maybe just say less on the swing side of things,
