Sonartec SS-03 19* Aldila NV 75

I am stunned.I have played golf for a long time, but no one single club has amazed me like this club has.Its simply a stunning golf club. The ball fizzes off the face, beautiful feel and balance, and a superb shaft to boot.

I believe its discontinued,hence why I paid 40UKP for a new one.

Awesome, don't take my word for it,try one out at this price.

I have the Sonartec md 19. This equals the best club ever invented. However recently I have discover the joys of my 2i. Out of curiosity I played 13 holes the other night woodless. Hit it all night withe the 2 iron and rocketed it. I figure I hit it 210 with 2 yards of draw each time.

Probably only a honeymoon, but my dilemma is do I swap it out for the md.

The md probably wins from the rough.

Keep the md in the bag hybrids offer more forgivness than the iron which will turn into a nasty potential cardwrecker if your not swinging perfectly.

I am in the market for a 4-Wood and am interested in this head/shaft config. Where can you get them at that price?

I've 2 Sonartecs - the 19*MD transition with iRod shaft and a 14* NP99 with Aldila 75, the 3 wood is a stunner, the ball fizzes off the clubface. Even with the sh*te weather here at the moment I'm out to around 230-240 with it. The MD is without doubt a breakthrough club and has given me an element of consistency I'd never had before.

dave:

Great post for us Sonartec fans and the timing was great for me.

I have had two Sonartecs in my bag for about two years and just swear by them. In the summer when the fairways are hard, they get so much runout after hitting the ground, that I often leave the driver in the bag. Even yesterday with my new beloved r7, I did not hesitate to hit my SS-03 off the tee on my customary holes.

I am really thinking about going to the shop and having that Aldila shaft put in. Both my clubs have the standard Penley Tour Lite shaft in them and they feel a bit mushy now. It would be expensive but worth it I think.

Sonartec has created a cult following of its fans. I crow about mine all the time to the people I play with. When I hit them well, they see my 3 wood go as far as their Launcher shots...but never consider buying them.

Love it!!

A 13* SS-03................is there a more suiting club for the word 'penetrating' than this club? Pammy and Tommy aside, its the most 'penetrating' thing on the planet.

Cult following hits the nail right on the head. In fact, Bravo, it was your crowing that even got me interested in Sonartecs. I tried an SS-02 4W for a while but we never did get along. I didn't give up on Sonartec, just their fairway woods.

I'm always checking out the local Golfsmiths' used club wall and one night came across two hybrids (19 & 23) in mint condition. Golfsmith will wheel-n-deal from the used wall and I did quite well for myself!

These clubs can do so much and even make a hack like me look pretty good. I was surprised by how forgiving the hybrids were because I didn't find the SS-02 that forgiving at all. The MDs look quite a bit different from other hybrids on the market but you can't argue with the results. Chalk another vote up for Sonartec!

Now joining the SS-03 5 wood is an SS-07 15* 3 wood, with a Fujikura Vista Pro 60.Can't wait.Decided to go for a 15 degree with a deeper weight distribution as a compromise, should nut it miles

Chemboy:

The SS-02 has a short face height and is indeed not the most forgiving club on mishits. I went with the SS-03 as a result of this. I am glad you like the hybrids. Ironically, I tested several hybrids on the range side-by-side with my pro at my side and chose the TM Rescue Mid for my hybrid club because it went higher and held the green better. But I am intensely loyal to the 14 and 19 degree fairway metals.

dave:

I do not understand how the design of the club makes it do what it does. The ball really reacts truly differently to the Sonartec. It comes off lower and hotter but rolls out incredibly. That is why I love it as a 'wind club' and go to it without hesitation when playing on such days.

Some sort of magic juice I suppose.

yep,truly great club

I think it only works for decent players though, you HAVE to swing at a certain speed to make it work

Bravo- I went with the SS-02 at the time for two reasons; 1) my understanding was that the 02 was to be more forgiving than the 03 and 2) I found a used 17* 4W in great condition. You just don't see Sonartecs popping up on the Golfsmith used wall all that often so I pulled the trigger rather quickly (although during their "trade-in days" I did see them more often). In any event, I switched to the V-Steels and haven't looked back. I'm real happy with the combination I have in bag right now so it's just a matter of executing in order for my scores to start coming down.

OK - you guys who have the NV 75 shaft in your Sonartec: I am thinking about buying a used one on ebay and having it put in my SS-03 14.

What shaft length should I be looking for? Could any length shaft be put in this club? Should I look for a .335 tip?

I am still lost on much of this...
