But it still doesn't make any difference at all when you now have a bent putter (in for repair ATM), which was bent by somebody using it as an offensive weapon.

9i 130
PW 100
Si 60-70

I rarely hit any OF my wedges to their limit, why sacrifice what limited control I have?

As mentioned earlier you can move the ball back in your stance but please don't go behind the centre of it unless you are playing a low punched chip shot, if you do then you are playing purely to show off and not for your best score. When you can hit a 3/4 8iron and stop it dead what is the point of trying to muscle a PW there? (unless you have a whopping big tree to get over!)

You could just get all your clubs de-lofted, then you could hit you PW 180 if that's what you are bothered about. My mate knocks his 5 iron 230+ just behind my 3 wood but he is off 24 and I'm off nearly 20 shots lower, nuff said really.

I really sound bitter don't I? I think the prospect of turning 30 is getting to me, I'm starting to say things like "young whippersnapper" and "Ahhh!" every time I sit down. THE END IS NIGH!

English,what are you talking about;

"As mentioned earlier you can move the ball back in your stance but please don't go behind the centre of it unless you are playing a low punched chip shot, if you do then you are playing purely to show off and not for your best score."

Every low handicapper, club pro and tour pro will play a 100 yard wedge from behind centre, way behind in many cases. This is for control, and not for 'showing off'.A full 9i at the centre, fair enough, but any wedge can be played back of centre for a more controlled flight.

Only for punched shots mate. Regular flighted shots are no furthe back than central

Sorry I have to go with Dave on this one EG. When I want to try to stop the ball quicker I play it back with an 8,9,PW to promote solid ball-first contact. I play it slightly behind center for regular shots with the lofted irons. I also have a pretty steep path and play a slight fade though.

I find this interesting, only because it brings back memories.

I had a 56* Callaway wedge that I could crank on and hit about 120. Yet I could only hit my 48* Mp-33 wedge 110 on a good day.

Go figure. Both forged, both stuck the same, same shaft.

Yeah, it's my Mac 1025 VIP sw. If I close it down I might get another 5 yards or so, but a good rip with the face square is 105.

My best shot with it yesterday was 8 feet past the pin from just about 100 yds. So it's pretty reliable.

Maybe the bounce/weight?

I've jyst noticed.... I'm the shortest hitter (youngest as well) here! My dad's quite a long hitter (5 handicap), and could be off scratch (was a couple of years ago), but his putting and short game are what costs him those few strokes. I asked him, and he hits his

9I: 130yds avg.
PW: 100 yds avg.

Once I get my lob wedge from Andy, I'll have gone from 0 wedges (half set didn't have PW or SW), to 4 wedges (48* PW, 52* AW, 55* SW, 60* LW)

I hit my wedge 150-160 carry in normal conditions(summer) and my 9 iron about 165-170.Went through a stage last year for about 3 months when i was striking the ball so well my 52 blade was carrying 150. I play the ball with my 9 and wedges behind center and have done for many years.
