How far can you hit P.W and i9?

Just interested what is the average and or you best distance.
My i9 is good for about 120yds..Afriend said he hit his PW 160 yds yesterday..That seems a little long.

PW 125 yards, 9I 145 yards. I only messured this last week on the practice ground. Man wish I would have done it sooner as it really helps with approach shots. I have to find a longer area to messure all my irons. I hit shots until i was happy that half a dozen were solid strikes, then messure to the middle of the six balls eith a trundle wheel.

If I thin my PW it seems like it goes as far as my driver but on purpose only about 110.

My 9 Iron goes about 120 when I am making good contact, when I hit my father in laws 9 iron a few weeks ago that did go over 150. He has Cleveland TA5.

On a normal day, I hit my 9 iron about 128. I can yank it about 135, but I rarely swing 100% with my irons.

I almost never use my PW. I have a 53* wedge that I can knock down and stop on a dime, so there's no use. I basically keep it in my bag for looks. I suppose if I was to ever hit it, i'd look to the 115 range or so.

I don't play long irons. Most (and I mean 90% at least) hit their PW's 150+ regularily. But I can still kick all their asses.

Boy, I never hit my PW or my 9....if I do it's very, very rare.

I use my driver, 3 or 5 wood (second shot on par 5's) or my 8 iron & sand wedge.

My 8 is good from 150 - 155 I think my 9 is 135ish and the pw 120 or so.

My PW is about 110-115, and my 9i is probably about 120-130. Like Rockford, I don't swing as fast with my irons as I do with my woods... probably about 10mph slower.

I rarely hit PW, but my other 3 wedges get quite a workout.

My two favorite irons They only two I can hit straight. I'll pull a 9 between 135-145 depending on the lie and downhill/uphill. A PW is usually from 110-130 3/4 to full. I drop down to a 50 or 54* wedge once I'm around or inside the 100yd. marker for wedge shots. My new PW is also 47* and a 1/2 in. long so it goes further than any I've ever had.

my pw is usualy good for around 110 the 9 is good for 120-125.i could hit both farther but i hate to try to muscle up short irons because i lose control of them.
those distances are about 85-90% swings.

So there are people that can jack a ball out to 150 with a i9, thats alot better then I can do. 150 for me is i7 with an easy swing,as swings go. Like a few people have mentioned here, the harder I swing, the worse it gets.

depending on conditons and/or type of shot I need to hit:

9 iron ~ 135/140
PW ~ 125
52* ~ 110
SW ~ 95/100
LW ~ 80

I do so much mixing and matching depending on what I need to do that I might hit the 52* gap wedge instead of the sand wedge if it is really windy or knock it down under an overhanging limb. I try to practice a variety of shots with all of the wedges because you never know what you're going to need.
