So what do we all shoot?

I think Bravo or Loop in a different thread stated that they thought most golfers shoot abou 95. So I googled and came up with this:

What is the average golfer`s score and has it changed much over the years?
  • NGF research shows that only 22 percent of all golfers regularly score better than 90 for 18 holes on a regulation length course. For females, the percentage is just 7 percent...and for males it is 25 percent.
  • The average 18-hole score on a full-size course is 97 for men and 114 for women. It`s an even 100 for all golfers. Only 6 percent of the men and 1 percent of the women say they break 80 regularly.
  • When asked what they`d like to shoot, most golfers say they`d be satisfied if they could shoot 85 on an 18-hole regulation course on a regular basis.
I am assuming the results of the poll will show that shottalkers play much better than the average golfer.

well only the truly devoted golfers would join an online golf forum, and truly devoted golfers are usually already better than the average golfer.... wouldn't that be about right??

those stats are actually better than i thought they'd be. i wonder how many of those rounds were under clean USGA ruled play though....

My last three rounds have been 76, 73 and 70.

I put my vote in for 76 to 80. I play to about a 4 nominally.

I am still stuck at a 15. 86-90. A streak of 91's a few weeks ago made it a tough decision. needed an 87-91 category .

My current USGA handicap is 6.2 so that puts me in the 76 - 80 group. I have shot even par 72 in the last month but normally shoot around 77 or 78.

I guess right now I'm an 86-90, although I've had a couple of rounds where my swing never felt right and I'd be in the low 90's.

I expect to break 90 now if everything is at least working the way it should.

My last three rounds are 78,80,78...but I normally shoot between 81-85. Even though I play year round, my scores always drop in the warmer months...Even though I have broken 80 quite a few times, I am always very happy when I do. I shoot tons of 81-83 scores and have a hard time moving down just a few strokes. My current index is 8.8.

I average 84. Occasionally I'll drop down to the mid-high 70's or blow up to the low 90's.

Good Thread Doug

I have 21 scores listed with stats in Golfserve
All 21
Scoring Avg: 93.6
Par 3: 4.2
Par 4: 5.4
Par 5: 6.2
Putts: 34.9

Now the part I found interesting, the last 30 days.
Scoring Avg: 90
Par 3: 4.0
Par 4: 5.1
Par 5: 6.1
Putts: 33.2 Not bad, that's a 1.9 per hole avg.
