The Phone Call...

I hate cell phones on golf courses, but for personal reasons beyond my control, I must keep mine on...

Yesterday morning, we are having our Saturday round, I have completed play on 16 holes with 13 pars, 2 bogies and 1 double. I am four over after 16, which for me is really good. I couldn't make a birdie putt but I was hitting fairways and GIR's. I felt like a golfer.

Then, up comes the marshall, "Call home now!"

Oh Sh**!!!

Its my wife. She says that the air-conditioner repair man is at our house and wants to talk. I walk over to the woods.

He says that my unit is unrepairable and the bill for a new one is $1500USD. I tell him to go ahead and proceed.

At that point, my drive is in the left rough on a dogleg right par 5.

My next shots are:

1) Hybrid gash of about 150 yards to the right.
2) Now I have a tree carry that looks tight. I gotta get it up just right to carry it onto the green. I have done this shot quite a few times and know to stay down on it and flush it and it will carry.

I gash a beaver pelt into the ground and the ball goes 40 yards.

3) Now a face a bunker carry shot of about 45 yards. I have a tight lie. I shank it onto the 18th tee.

At that point, I chipped on a two putted for double.

I then bogied the 18th after a super drive and an approach that left me in the rough short of the green.

Limped home...arrrgggHhhhhh!!!

Unlucky B sounds like a great round until you got the phone call. Really it sounds unfair if tiger cant deal with the sound of a camera in action how are us hackers meant to deal with a phone call.

Thats not as bad as me fighting back from 3 doubles to 3 over with 2 to play, and then getting sun stroke and dropping another 4 on the last 2 with a head that wanted to explode

97 deg f (36 deg C) outside does not exactly provide a cool breeze, unless of course Alberto veers further south than forecast

My pool was at 85 degrees yesterday. It felt a bit cool.

Now back to the thread.

Bad news on the A/C, Bravo. If there is a bright side, at least your new unit will be more efficient and save you some cash on the electic bill.

Sounds like it kind of spoiled your round, which is a real bummer. 15 minutes later and you could have been on the 19th with beer in hand to help sooth the pain. One of my golf buddies always carries his phone and it definitely spoils his game. Its hard to keep your mind on the game when you are having issues off the course.

Phones on the golf course - that caused a lot of trouble last Sunday in the Thornton Cup (essex clubs play each other) In morning foursomes one of our players phones went off (god knows what it was doing on) but the referee was standing there as it went off on the 15th tee, its an automatic dq for the player so the point went to the opposing team, we ended up losing 8-7. But it didn't come out till the evening that in the afternoon singles one of the opposing players caddies mobile phone went off which should have been a dq for that player, it was never reported and that would have put us through, although we wouldn't have wanted to go through on a DQ

That's tough, Bravo. The round I mean, not the a/c. In the last 20 years, I have had 3 compressors, 3 compressors units, and 2 full systems installed between home and office. A cool $18,000 by my calculations.

I really screwed up when I decided to go to vet school instead of being a HVAC tech.

dave, that wasn't a documetary, it was a hollywood movie like King Kong or Super Man. If you want to watch an exaggerated documentary check out anything by Micheal Moore.

I'd love to highs in the 80s, that would be perfect spring or fall weather.

Is the new Superman film (or "movie" ) out in the U.S. yet ? It is out here in a month or two I read recently. King Kong was a great film, imo.

Do all / some / most houses in the States have pools in their back garden....?
