Summer specials...

Summertime, and the livin' is easy...

Disney is running a summer special for Florida Residents. Unlimited golf all summer long at their six gorgeous courses. $179 includes everything, cart, greens fees, etc. That's $179 for the whole summer.

Now, these courses are normally $80 - $150 per round.

I know UALTIM is from Orlando. Any other Florida folks out there feel like buying into this? I'd be happy to drive out from Tampa for a few rounds.

I believe you have to tee off after 3PM on that special. Kind of hard to take full advantage of the program with the seemingly daily afternoon thunderstorms after 3PM.

Hadn't really thought of that, but yeah, that would be a risk.

I thought it only rained in Florida when I went down there to visit and play golf. I know it rained 3 of the 4 days I went down there in February, one of the days about 2 inches. Then I heard on the news around May that it hadn't rained since February.

BTW, isn't saying "The Whole Summer" in Florida kind of redundant, and wouldn't it mean a year round package?

The drought is over. Retention ponds overflowing again . Usually we have a dry spring followed by daily thunderstorms from the first week of June until sometime in September to October with an occasional "big rain" that comes with a tropical storm or hurricane. Thankfully, they are normally 30 minute to one hour events in the afternoon.

I found a deal at Kissimmee Golf Club where you buy a SAMS card (Seasonal Associate MemberShip) for $35 and get discounts all year round. $22 anytime from mid-April to mid-November, $15 after 3PM. Goes up a bit in the winter, but still a lot cheaper than full price.

The course wraps itself around Kissimmee Gateway Airport and there are no houses on the course. The greens are a bit tricky and it is not the longest course in the world, but it does require a lot of thought off the tee as there is always trouble lurking if you try to overpower the course. I probably only use the driver 8 or 9 times a round.
