broke 80 from tips- finally

played the tips today (72 par, 6600 yards)
39 on the front.
got to 17 and was thinking man i think im gonna do it.... double #17. oops. come into 18, a 485 par5 only needing bogey to do it. i think im gonna play this one smart. rip it and have 230 to the green , smart i say to my self, smart! pull the three wood pull it a little , looked bunker bound but stays just short.
20 yard pitch and 2 putts does it still. thin the pitch and have 30 feet to three putt, and i do it in 2, so i had a 39 on the back too.

my round consisted of:

2 birdies
9 pars
6 bogeys
1 double
i still feel i had many bad shots (17), so i know i can improve still, and hope to be breaking 80 more consistently from now on.
the main difference today was just more solid drives, and no real short game lapses.

Talking

I also recently broke 80 for the 1st time in a juiner tourny. It was my home course (which is easy... but still). I got 6th with a 78 (39,39). which consisted of 0 birdies, 13 pars, 4 bogeys, and I double. My rounds before that had been 82, 81, 80, 81, so it's been fraustrating for me. But... just like you I FINALLY DID IT!!! I know how it feels now great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Done!! I can relate but still only dream. close but never the cigar.

yesterday got a call in the afternoon from a good playing buddie that has been too busy lately to golf. We both came to play and it made for a good friendly grudge match.

Was down 1 after 2, even after 3 and stayed tied for the rest of the nine. All pars or bogies. finished nine at 41
Tenth was a par 3 I pulled big time. the chip was decent and would have been good except just caught the cart path. bounces long and I take the first double bogey of the day. P pars and I am down 2. Got back even with pars on both 14 and 15 to his bogies. tied on the 18th tee, par 5 with a pond in front of the green. Both of us were actually repeating the mantra "pitching wedge, pitching wedge, putt putt" after good drives. His third went a bit over the green, I was on in three. he finished with a chip, putt putt but I managed two good putts and finished up 1.

finished 82 and 83 A good round for me and he said his best ever. I was unhappy with my putting, but pleased that I had only one hole worse than bogey. He was all pars and bogies. Good golf for both of us, sub-eighties is doable, just have to continue to avoid any disaster holes and make a few more putts. Its gonna happen. It has got to happen.

Nice Work congrats....
I broke 80 Sunday for the first time this year as well woooooooo. Man the pressure stepping up to 18 knowing its right there is wicked eh. I blew it up once this summer needing a par on 18, but I had a few more strokes to play with this time

and Congrats to everyone out there striving to get better and meeting or coming close to goals. It's a great game!

Nice! Grats!

The first time I broke 80 was at my home course, which it all came together and I had only been playing for abouta year and a half. The first time I broke 80 in tournament was about a year later at a course I'd played all of twice before. But I started off finishing the front nine with a 35(36 par), when you're on, you're on.

Best round ever? 65 at my home course.
