Looks to me like you can play all three for $165 right now.

The only time I have played big money for golf ($180 a round at Kiawah Island) was when it was in conjunction with a business conference. Tax deductible.

The most I have paid is $175 to play Edgewood Tahoe during my honeymoon. Edgewood is the course the celebrities play during the Tahoe celebrity open that's televised on NBC I think.

Nice course. Not $175 nice though. It'd be a GREAT $75 course IMO.

I played in with a LARGE group of golfers. There had to be 10 or 15 foursomes. It was the first time I had encountered "Gambling Rules".

The way they played it, you NEVER got to touch your ball when not on the putting green without taking a penalty stroke. The only exception was if the ball was actually ON a sprinkler head. ZERO free drops. Play it as it lies. Keeps it much more "fair" when you have a large group like that.

I always want to give the "Gambling Rules" a try, but my friends are too afraid. They like to roll the ball in the fairway (full-time winter rules in your own fairway) and get relief from casual water and cart paths, and plugged balls. I would much rather play with the gambling rules. It takes all the subjectivity out of the Rules of Golf.

But I digress.....

To continue the threadjack...

The rules of golf exist. Are there circumstances where the interpretation of a rule may affect a match between me and another player? Very, very few.

My game is my game. His game is his game. The only reason for me to worry about whether anyone else is playing by the rules is if we are playing for money. And if he cheats in that circumstance, then I won't play with him again - ever.

Playing "gambling rules" is certainly not "against the rules". The rules state that you "may" get relief from a cartpath, and "may" lift a plugged ball. But to me it's the same thing, philosophically, as "no rules".
