How much difference will 1* make on your Driver

I started playing golf approx 14 months ago and I have fallen in love with this sport.......I can hit my driver pretty straight but I feel i loose a lot of yardage because I hit the ball so high.......I swear it would clear the Sears Tower.......I have a loft of 10* use a stiff shaft and the make is a Nickent.....Would It make a big difference to switch to a 9* or 8.5* Driver

I've played 40 years and used everything from 8.5, 9, 10, 10.5 and 11 and really hardly noticed much difference. I think the shaft makes maybe more difference then the driver loft but there's alot of "interaction" going on with shaft flex, kick point and driver loft (and the golfer's swing) to end up with what you get.

Maybe Rock (the guy I listen to in these forums) can elaborate. All I know is I use 10.5 and love it. It seems more forgiving on slices and hooks.

The longest hitter I ever played with (300 plus every other hole) would hit what would appear to be a "skyball" until it came down 300 yards away. He's older then dirt now and still hits them like that and he uses an old small head 11 degree offset driver

Old piece of crap too! (the driver)

I pound the ball with an 11* driver, I can also hit a low shot on purpose for a long roller. It's in your set up and swing.

Push your weight forward when you follow through. If you keep it back like you probably do then it will go high like you usually do. feel like your leaning into the ball wehn you come through.

If you want to keep your swing consistent, then a shaft change is what you need. You probably have a high launch/low kick shaft installed in your current driver. More than likely it's designed for specifically that - high launch and huge carry.

If you went to a mid kick, it would flatten your trajectory out.

Have a go with a few other drivers and see the difference.

Do you know the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? The porcupine has its' pricks on the outside.

At least I don't have one in my avatar.

Please don't tell me that's a dog. Please.

Yes, it's a dog.

I can't remember the website, but someone went to elaborate lengths to create a Poodle disguise for their Doberman, because their landlord was scared of Dobies. The "hairpieces" attached with Velcro and rubber cement.

I just love the look on the Dobies face: Why do I stay with you?
